Did a bit of searching and could not find any definitive answers.

Can I fit 2006+ Land Cruiser tails on my 1998 Land Cruiser?

Yes, with modification I believe. That's on here somewhere, or on tlcfaq, I forget where I saw that.

The 07 taillights does not require any kind of modifications apart from taillights wiring harness which is different but piece of cake.

I stand corrected.

Perfect, thanks for this info.

Any idea if they are the same bulbs?

(Don't shoot me down again)

I believe that they're LEDs instead of the incandescente which come with the earlier tails

Unless I'm thinking of a different style taillight...

WOO! Finally got it right...

It looks cool but those lights are a big pile of cash.

^^Agree - they look like a nice cosmetic change, but would rather put $ where most needed (personal opinion of course).

Opinions on purchasing the eBay tail lights and painting the top portion all red? Has anybody done this?

I wouldn't bother, I know guys have done it before but I would start to question quality. Unless you just really LOVE the look of the updated tail lights I would put the cash somewhere more useful :)

I think it really updates the look of the car. I plan on getting 2000UJZ to pop some projectors in the stock headlight housings also.

Your truck looks really good with those tails. I will order them and look into painting the top portion all red

You could check out my, and 2000UZJ's trucks. I know we both, and I'm sure others too, have HID retrofits as well as the stock tail lights. What I've found is that it's really only the cruiser guys notice the difference between tail lights, and I just don't find it worth the money. I personally kinda like the older look, but not too old, of the 2000 tails.

That being said, I look forward to seeing how yours turn out! Update us when they come in!

I've been extremely happy with my front end update. The newer 2007 headlights and grille really updated the truck and I've gotten many compliments since my update. After breaking 200K miles, getting a recent rejected inspection due to a broken OEM 99 headlight (broken mounting tabs) and marker lights were in poor condition so I decided updating the front end wouldn't cost much more than buying all new "old style" parts. I also decided I didn't want to mess with projectors and modifying the old lights as I already have a 30" LED bar and other AUX lighting which is plenty bright even on the trails at night. The improved reflector design of the 2007 lights with good bulbs is way better than my old 99 lights so I'm very happy. I have lots of pics and info on my front end update so hopefully I will do a write up when time permits.

This is uncanny timing - I was literally just about to post a thread asking those who did the 06+ front conversion how the light output was compared to the old style. I am right about to pull the trigger on the parts to upgrade the front end on my 98, and you answered my question. I was wondering if the upgraded headlight design was significantly better for light output to the point that a projector and HID retrofit was not necessary. I was figuring the cost to upgrade to HIDs wasn't that significantly less than updating the whole front end to the new pieces. So you would say you're very happy you did the update?
