Very specialized grease, and how much would you add as it takes exact amount. Looks like very little has oozed out, I'd just reboot. As long as the boots aren't torn I'd just squirt a little grease in there and reband and call it a day. You can pick up new bands from member PFRAN here.

I pumped until I saw the boot starting to swell and grease oozing out around the nozzle. One side took 14 pumps before it started oozing out and swelling a tiny bit. The other side took 22 pumps. May have been too much, but I figured too much grease probably wouldn't be too big of an issue compared to not enough. You really have no way of knowing the exact amount. While the manual calls for an exact amount there is much wiggle room. In my case, I bought the truck with leaking boots. I had no way of knowing how long they had been leaking and how much had come out. I simply pumped several pumps into each boot and rebanded. Figured new grease was better than just rebanding and running the risk of running dry. Been like that for 11k miles and they are smooth as silk. No gear wine, no lumpy feeling when turning lock to lock. All good from my perspective.
What kind of grease is in the boot, what about compatibility? I couldn't find so I rebooted. I didn't want to run the risk of contaminations either from water already in boot or non compatible of adding lube. You really have no way of knowing the exact amount. So it sounds like from reading posts about my above pics that I shoud NOT replace axle? Just clean, add grease and re-clamp with pfran clamps? Type or brand of grease recommendations? Thanks guys!

After 260k miles, my '99 has its first torn boot. I just bought the reboot kit, my CV appears to be fine, but will inspect when I pull it.I have been using Valvoline Synthetic chasis grease. It says it's for Import vehicles with Toyota listed. Also states it's for CV joints. I found an old thread on here that said to use that so that is what I used. Used it on both of my 80's and my 100 with no issues so far.Keep in mind the factory gray lube, is not a chassis grease. Nor does factory fill the cavity.
I"m very curious what type and weight of grease have you been using?
Is the first picture what you used in the past (Shell Stamina grease), and where did you get?View attachment 1176628 After 260k miles, my '99 has its first torn boot. I just bought the reboot kit, my CV appears to be fine, but will inspect when I pull it.
Six years ago, I pumped bearing grease in leaky boots and rebanded- many miles no issues til now.
I'll post pics of the grease tubes in the Toyota reboot kit shortly- large tube appears to be about 18 oz, smaller tube about 16 oz- quite a bit, but not sure if this is critical.
I remember adding a buttload of bearing grease into the boots for rebanding, but not too much- leave room for flex and articulation.
