Ok, I know I'm not the most "swift" person around nor do I speak a lick of Spanish, but... does Toyota still offer the FJ80 in Central/South America? I found this website from Venezuela and it shows a "2006 Modelo" Land Cruiser VX which is an FJ80.
Here is the link http://www.exiauto.com/vehiculos/fj80/3.htm. Do they still offer the 80 series body style?

I always go back to the Venezuela web site with hopes to one day travel down there and see one new inperson. I think somewhere I heard they use dana axles but in the pictures it looks to still be toyota. I'm really curious to know where they are built, because Venezuela seems to be the only country where they are still sold. I assume they are and not been an Araco product for years.

I want the green one! I was noticing they even offer them in part time 4wd and full time 4wd. I wish we got the cool stuff here..

They are/were built in Venezuela. It was posted a few weeks ago that production of the 80-Series in Venezuela stopped recently; within the past few months. They cannot be easily imported to the US and they were very expensive. There was a guy hanging here on 'Mud and back on SOR a few years ago that claimed he could import them (slightly used) for about $50,000 US. He got no takers that I am aware of.

Looks like it doesn't have any of the safety features required for a new vehicle, no mention of ABS, no airbags, only thing it mentions as far as safety are 3 point seatbelts. I am sure there are a lot more requirements too.

Not sure about bumpers, not familiar with DOT requirements for bumpers for a truck like this but I know regular passenger car bumpers in Venezuela are non existant compared to the ones in the states.

Looks like the model has not changed much so maybe the guy talking about importing figured he could just retrofit all the safety equipment from a US spec wrecked 80 onto a new Venezuelan 80.

I go to Venezuela once a year and see lots of these everywhere, also lots of built ones.

The Autana is offered in 5 speed manual :):):):)

edit: looks like only the VX is offered with ABS and all have dual airbags

If you look at the bottom of the page they mention a stereo that takes mp3 cds. I wonder what it looks like? Might be a nice option.
