Yes, the axle is out of the housing and I unbolted the knuckle. I was just having a hard time pulling the inner axle off the diff. I will have to give it another try this week. For the 2 19mm knuckle bolts, Is it required to use blue locktite when reinstalling? I know my Tacoma knuckle bolts requires locktite. Not sure about the lexus since the bolts are 19mm and torqued to 118ftlb.

I had the same problem with mine but just bought two brand new life time warranty axles for $80 each ... then bought these CV Axle Repair Clamps off ebay to clamp down better on the boot bc i have a lift in the front ... maybe unethical to to some but a life time warranty is hard to beat for $80 ... but to each his own

The only problem is that those $80 axles are made from kindling so you will be swapping out axles frequently!

So Wednesday I was able to get the axle off. Not sure why, but it came off a lot easier on Wednesday than when I first tried. My guess is that the snap washer on the axle that goes into the diff was prob turned at a different angle making it easier to pull off. put on the new oem boot and everything back in. I didn't have the cvboot band clamp so I accidently broke the clamp trying to tighten it. Bough the clamps that The Gentleman recommended but rebooted the oem axle. The tulip on the gx axle seems so much better than the one on my taco. looks like it would give more articulation and flex.

If it gets to the point that I get tired of changing out free axles than I'm gonna go beyond factory and with something heavy-duty quality ....
Which I kinda hope is a problem for me bc that means I'm wheeling enough to wear axles out ....
So either way in the axle department I'm a happy camper :D

Aftermarkets are spendy! I am going to new beefy ones when I go long travel...part of the reason it it taking longer. Have to save up to do it right :)

Doing the other side now, not bad with 170k. OEM reboot kit from toyota with everything needed was $40. A couple hours and i have a like new toyota CV. Only thing is clamps need a clamp tool and one is some weird folding clamp that i had problems so i used a large ziptie.
