My '04 with 282k needs some tranny work. Anyone in the Atlanta area know of any reputable shops in the Marietta / Acworth / Cartersville area?

Short history... super well maintained, ran absolutely perfect until this...

Transmission cooler hose popped out of it's clamp and got cut by the fan, fluid leaked everywhere and transmission stopped shifting correctly. Immediately pulled over and had it towed to dealer. They fixed the hose, refilled and after that transmission has a slight shudder downshifting back to 1st when coming to a stop. Upshifts fine and manual gear choice is fine. Dealer verified correct fluid level and pulled a P2714 code "Pressure solenoid control D performance stuck OFF" but no CEL on ever. They recommend replacing the whole tranny as they do not work on transmissions.

I don't believe it's toast quite yet and don't "think" I burned up any clutches. I would like a 2nd opinion from a tranny shop familiar with these and hoping just a solenoid replacement will fix it. Used an AAMCO before on a previous vehicle with mixed results (but I know different locations may be better).

Any local recommendations???

NEVER AAMCO!

Even though dealer said trans level is correct I’d first double check that the level is in fact correct- search “level check procedure” have a fresh crush washer on hand.

Before replacing an entire transmission for a solenoid failure, if you’re at all mechanically inclined you can drain the trans fluid, remove the pan and carefully remove the solenoid to test it- and if needed replace it.

Review the FSM for procedures.
