Not my car but found this one recently on Edmunds and a few other major car search websites. Wanted to know what you guys think as it is such a cheap price. Didn't get a carfax yet. Of course if it is a good deal it's fair game if someone here snags it before me but ya know, morals? LOL (Anyone can find these with a quick search anyways)

2004 Lexus LX 470 Springfield Illinois, Black Onyx, 202k miles (Around 7k)

Also I've been reading this forum for months in prep to buy my first land cruiser and I'd like to grab one hopefully within the next 2 weeks. After all the research I've done here and on reddit I've pretty much settled on a '04 - '07 LX470 based on what I really need. Decent comfort (I'm 6' 4"), no rock crawling. Mostly overlanding, snowboarding, fishing, surfing, camping. 27, no wife and kids, decently mechanically savvy, the mud is my oyster?

I've posted a few other links too. All LX470s you could find by searching any big website. Cars.com, autotrader, edmunds, searchtempest, etc. If anyone else has checked them out or wants to.

2006 Lexus LX470 Atlanta Georgia, Gray, 214k miles (around 14k)
I'll liked this '06 with the nice ARB bumper already installed until I read it's original paint was noted as white some years back. Dealer seems like a straightforward guy with good reviews.

2005 Lexus LX470 Lilburn Georgia, Grey Mica, 135k miles (around 20k)
Theres also this immaculate looking one.

The age old question: is it worth spending double or triple the amount to get an immaculate vehicle with solid maintenance history and low mileage or settling for a cheaper one with higher miles and throwing money into it for upgrades. Train of thought is I'm going to have to put in anywhere from 2-6k into any car I buy especially to make it an overlander so might as well go cheap as possible as long as the car isn't a POS.

Wouldn't touch that 2005 with a ten foot pole. Pretty sure they've been trying to sell that same truck for a year now.

Pro Tip #1
If you live in a rust-free part of the country, you don't shop for a Toyota in the rust belt.

Pro Tip #2
If there's an ARB front bumper on an otherwise stock rig, you can expect there to be accident history, whether or not it's on the Carfax.

Yea something sketchy about the 2005. It's been up there for a while. I think overpriced too

I actually live in Hawaii but refuse to ever bring a land cruiser there so my intention is to keep it stored with the folks in NJ or friends in the PNW. I'm free to shop anywhere so definitely looking outside the rust belt

And after connecting a few dots in the car fax as slick as that 2006 looks it's pretty clear it was white, someone totalled it smashing the front end, it went up for auction, and someone bought it and "fixed" it up. How bad the damage was is anyone's guess

I already got the price lowered on that 7k car so now I'm really wonderin what the hell is wrong with it! 7k is a deal and a half if it has no major underlying issues (keywords right there haha)

Did you end up finding an LX 470 you liked and decided to buy? I am looking for a similar car pretty much same years and in Central Texas and having a hard time finding something that is either too far away to go check out or is a little more then what I would like to spend on a car that old...
Good luck in your search!

No haven't found one just yet. I'm actually still at work off the grid in alaska for another week so I can't technically buy one. But there's a lot of cheap ones that pop up and look like they're in good condition (maybe there are) but their service record with Lexus only goes back to 09 or something too far back. Id say it's much less risky buying from someone here on Mud but also, that 7k one could run flawlessly and even if you had to put 10k into it to fix...that's still cheaper than a lot of cars being sold out here!

So no, haven't found one. The search continues

I was in Maui, Seen more Toyota vehicles there than anywhere.... Jeeps also. Lifted 80’s,100s and 4 runners.
That alone was one of the best parts of the trip. Man I missed my cruiser as I drove that Jeep around. That sea air will destroy most anything as Time goes on unless aluminum and Treated with corrosion resistance- New Jersey also.
Look for a rust free vehicle- Oil spray it underneath. Here are some Maui Toys

Yup there's some sweet ones out here! Hawaiians love their toyotas too. I wouldnt get one out in hawaii. (Sent you a PM) Too much rust! Also got plenty of time on main land and would be driving around the PNW most likely once I get one
