I Am pretty new at this so bear with me.
Recently purchased 2004 LC w/ 100k. Great drive.
When you shift to low gear with transmission in neutral does the CDL automatically engage?
FSM seem to suggest this unless I miss read.
When CDL is pressed the indicator light with VSC off do come on and I hear a click from under the glove box.

Is it proper to have no indicator light up when shifting from HI to LO?

I tried a search function but may not have typed proper words.

Much thanks and reading this forum has become a small part of my day now.

There is no indicator when shifted into LO, you manually engage the CDL.

Since you have a 2004, as Layonnn explained, what you observed is normal.

Just fyi, on 100 series it depends on model year. 98 and 99 automatically engaged cdl when you shift into Low (unless you get the pin 7 mod from slee). 2000 and up do not tie transfer case to the cdl so you control the cdl separtely with the cdl switch under he antennae up/down switch on the center console. This means you can be in Low with center diff open if you want, and you can be in High with center diff locked if you wanted...

Whilst my 05 (which is the same build as an 04) is a manual - if I go to neutral and then low range the CDL is engaged.
Cheers

Australia !! From memory the last V8 manual you could buy was mid 2006 and I think September 2006 was game over.

Can't you tell if you're in low range by just stomping on the throttle???
Either you hit the gas and get upto highway speed with your tac at 1500rpm or you're doing 10mph in high gear at 1500rpm.
Who needs a light??

I don't think he was asking for an indicator that he was in Low. I think his question was why doesn't he see the VSC off indicator when he shifts into Low since he was under the impression that his 04 LC would automatically engage CDL when he shifted into Low...

Ahhh, my humble apologies if I was incorrect in my assumption...
