Hi Folks, I'm an 80 guy trying to move up to a 100. I've been combing the usual suspects (here, CL, Auto Trader, etc.) for a good 100 in my area: SF Bay Area. I have a decent budget ... I'm not looking for a cheap truck.

Then there is this dilemma: buy a less expensive truck and dump some cash into it or buy one in the best shape (and lowest miles) possible knowing that I will probably dump some cash into it anyway.

Most 100's seem to be in the 150k+ milage range that are priced in a range that I think is high or rather ambitious. Am I crazy to think that an 04' with 250k for 16k is out of line? I know these are asking prices ... but they wouldn't be asking if people weren't paying.

Does anyone have a secret 100, in good shape, for a fair price in the SF Bay Area that isn't gold with beige interior sitting around their yard waiting for me to come along?

So..based on my research and journey to get one in the last three months, through both the private market and retail channels...I've concluded that the 03-07's have a 1000-2000$ premium over kbb and nada. But that's with average miles. I feel like the current owners (non lc enthusiasts particularly) and dealerships have been seeing forums like this and determining that if people are saying the cars will go for 400-500k miles, then 200k miles is only or less than half life. By the way, I think that's crazy but that seems to be justification I've continuously received when trying to bring sellers back down to earth on their asking prices.

I pm'ed you a good one.

Thanks to Pucker5 I'm in the 100 club. Pulled the trigger today and I should receive it just after the 4th of July.

Now, I have to sell my 80. A sad day is on the horizon.
