As the title stated, does any experts here knows if it is possible to swap a 03 LX470 instrument cluster into a 99 Landcruiser? I like the newer Lexus cluster. From what I see, it seems like it is a direct swap. But hate to buy one and it will not work.

I wouldn't think it would work.
The 03 and 99 have different transmissions and the indicator lights will be different.
Because those are different, its possible the connector wiring is different.
Certainly with some effort one could "customize" the c

I know the wiring harness for the nav system in the LX470 is different between these two years. While not really an answer is it suggestive that you may face issues.

My suggestion would be to look up the connectors in the FSM on both and see how different they look, then take a risk maybe.

I face the same issue with a driver's seat that I bought with a memory control box in it going into a 98 without seat memory. I decided just to plug it in and give it a smoke test and see what happens. The connectors look identical, but there must be data going to the position control box....so who knows...

Back to your instrument cluster, my 2001 LX470 has a very nice dashboard and I suspect it probably would have a better chance to fit into your truck. Here's a photo of one:

does the 2001 have a 5 speed transmission too? looks like in this picture, it has the indicator lights for the 5 speed i know my brothers 2000 only has the 4 speed and i didn't think they went to the new one until 2003 or so... just curious

4 speed. It has the straight shift lever (which I prefer).

That sure looks like a later model LX instrument cluster to me (w/ a 5 speed), just like the one in my 06.

The earlier model LX instrument cluster (that I've owned/seen) looked like this:

I also like the white dial print.
Isnt the easiest solution to find somebody that will reproduce the printed black sheet with the lettering ?

I've done a lot of researching on the 4 combo meter plugs for 2007 LX & LC on down to 2004. It's not horribly difficult to get TIS for two days and download what you want, what you have, and compare them. I've done that for 2004-2007 combo panel connectors. I think it's doable in all the later ones but a 1999 to a 2003 might be a stretch. There might be airbag changes and immobiliser changes that mean something. SRS lights etc.
Find a friend to borrow one, that's what I'd do.
I want a LX meter also.

The connector from 98-02 model and 03-05 model looks to be the same from the back, so I think it will plug in but not sure if everything works fine though. I prefer the LX 03 looks. Well, if too much trouble I probably just use 98-02 LX cluster. 03+ cluster just look so much better!

I actually got curious and went and photographed the panel on my own 2001 LX470:

I see now that the photo I posted earlier (just result of a google search for a 2001 LX) had the odometer with a dark background, which is nicer. The photo must have been from a later year.

I would not want an AHC diagram on my LC
I love the simplicity of a pre 03 LC dash.

That being said, I am also curious if a 03 is swappable to an older dash- just because

Has anyone tied putting an 02 LC cluster into an LX? I like the look of the LC cluster much more.

AHC is deleted and would like to swap if possible.

Did you ever attempt this? I’m considering putting a LC cluster in my 01 LX with AHC deleted.
