drop the running boards, bigger tires, crank the torsion bars, sliders, now fix or upgrade the audio, then drop the old front bumper for a new one - mine as well get a winch too - now you're ready for a lift, then a rear bumper, re-gear and add air lockers. Feel free to add whatever exo stuff you need along the way.

Great! Anything I should know about that? Did yours have fender flares?

The running boards come right off, I think there's like 16 bolts (be sure to put the bolts back in their homes to keep everything nice and tidy).

Here's the best thread on cranking your torsion bars: https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/491948-those-torsion-bar-questions.html

Then, as mentioned, it's all up to how you want to use it.

Gonna wheel it? I'd say start with sliders and some nice new rubber.

Good Luck.

Oh..and I didn't have flares, so can't help you there.

I want a good expedition rig, to get me anywhere i need to go. It came with BFG rugged terrains that are brand new, not as big as I'd like, but I'm going to keep them till they wear out. I'll put on sliders, how much and which way should I go with them? I'd like to eventually have a roof rack, for the spare and high lift jack. Raise it a couple inches and put bumpers on later.

Take the receiver hitch off so you don't drag it on everything!!

It's a poor mans steel bumper. Leave it on and drag it over anything and everything. It will save you from destroying the plastic bumper, tailpipe, mud flaps and rear cargo.

100% right. Mine saved me a lot last weekend. Well, I do have to wire up a new 7-pin... BTW- $137 from Toyota, $13 from local trailer shop. With bracket.

I made the comment because during the first drive after he bought it we took it through a short rocky section and bumped the receiver a few times. It's a sweet rig, looking fwd to seeing it built up! Lets hit some trails!
