I did the same with pliers. Two of them popped out. The original Toyota nuts were not installed very well. I replaced all the nuts.I had that happen to me. I wrapped a section of tie wire around the spinning portion, took pliers and pryed against the wire and gently turned the bolt with a wrench. It took a few tries.
You could also try to roughen the ties wire with a file, to create a serrated surface, and they may grip the plastic a bit better
