*** For Sale: 2001 LX470 (Dealer Records) ~166k mi

Hello Gentlemen,

My LX470 is currently for sale.

She is black with grey leather and has every option available : Touch-screen Navigation system (climate/radio/cd/dvd changer controlled through the touch-screen also), premium Mark Levinson stereo, a roof rack, and the towing package.

It also has an Electronic Air Suspension, suspension settings from Comfort to Sport which change the stiffness of the suspension in milleseconds to adjust for your desired ride (excellent feature), a sophisticated Full-Time 4-wheel Drive system, and ATRAC and VSC (Automatic Traction Control and Vehicle Skid Control). The ATRAC is an amazing system, you can look it up for more information.

Mileage as of April 17, 2012: 166,940. This will increase a bit as I'm still driving the car.

I am the third owner. I have a printout of the entire history from Lexus.

The timing belt and water pump have been changed (for those who know, it's an expensive yet very important repair/preventive maintenance) at 138K. The tires are nearly new, they are Michelin LTX tires. There are approximately 7 thousand miles on them.

I have the full set of 3 keys. No accidents, clean title, no surprises! This is a nice Lexus.

The 160K service has been done, she's a nice rig. I have a printout from Lexus (11 pages) detailing all work they have done over the years (the printout begins at "mileage 1" for delivery in 2001).

12K cash buys her :) This is a good deal on an awesome rig.........

EDIT: I've been sending people who have contacted me through CL to this thread. For those users, please be aware than some of the responses below that mentioned "lower to a more realistic price" etc., were when I had initially posted this rig for sale at $13,900. I have since edited the post but their responses are still the same.

(pics below)

SOLD - thanks!

Even if you guys aren't interested in buying, I'd like to have input on what is a fair price for this thing? 14.5k? Ideas?

Not sure if this helps but I picked up an 01 LC with Nav similar situation to yours (mind you its not an LX) for 11k with 170k on the dial.

Thanks for the responses. Besides selling it, I also wanted to get input about the price. I don't want to be the guy who is trying to sell something for out of his mind prices, I just want a fair sale for both me and whoever buys her.

So 11K for the LC in a similar situation. I think that would be say 1500-2000 more because it's an LX? (not saying the LC is worse, but you know what I mean, that's about the price differential all else equal, right?)

What about the fact that I have the entire Lexus dealer history? That's gotta be worth something. I mean how much difference would you pay for a car with zero history versus a car with full history, Lexus dealership no less? Even if over-paying at the dealer, it means the owners have money to maintain whatever comes up, not cutting corners. I'd think that's worth 2K at least. It would be for me. 12k for a car no history or maybe 14k with full dealer history?

So is 14k fair? Does that sound about right to you guys?

Yeah I see where your coming from maintenance wise, which is always a great thing to have and very desirable to allot of people looking for 100. As far as it being priced more than a LC of same year could be debatable since it looks like your LX has AHC? Some guys want this some don't want to mess with it esp if they are thinking about adding allot of weight? Maybe an LX owner will chime in here. For example there is a LC close to me same type of maintenance history with 145k for 12k.... regardless of where you end up price wise it is a very nice rig. I would start it at somewhere around 12k but that's just me, maybe an LX owner will have more to say?

My suggestion: get that engine cleaned. A dirty engine compartment to me screams NEGLECT. It may not be the case, but I've passed on otherwise perfect vehicles because the engine compartment was a filthy mess.

But I do agree that having all the dealer records is worth something. My ES saw the Lexus dealer every 5000 miles like clockwork before I bought it.

90k service records are the most valuable. For the first 100k miles I wouldn't expect (or want) to see much more than oil changes, 90k service and maybe a coolant flush. Most of the orig owners of $55k+ rigs can be counted on to pay for oil changes on a semi regular basis. I think as you go past 100k miles the service records become more telling and potentially more valuable e.g CV joints/boots, starters, bearings, suspension components etc. YMMV, but on a 150k+rig I might pay 2-3% more for a full history. In the abstract it may be worth more, but I think you can tell a lot about a rig's history by its cosmetic condition.

Speaking of history how do you know it never towed or went off road? (not rhetorical question)

The dealer maintenance history is not worth much IMHO with the exception of the 90k service. Certainly not $2k above one without it. $13-14k is probably ball park for your truck. Good luck with the sale.

Yes I detail all of my cars in the spring - it's just that spring came early! Engine bay will be spotless.

Thanks for the other inputs, I agree 90k service is the key one. This rig had the timing belt/water pump done at 138K according to the records.

Re: towing/off-roading. Well nobody can know for sure, but both previous owners said they didn't do either, and assuming they don't lie I'd take their word for it. 60-year old doctor and food executive. I've met the food exec I guess you'd have to know him to know that he's not the type to go off-road.

If it did ever tow anything, I'm sure it wasn't a problem - it's a 100 series.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I'm going to a agree with the 13-14k assessment.

FWIW, the fact that it had the water pump replaced during the 90K service is further evidence that this rig was well-cared for. The WP is one of the "above and beyond" items. It is not required but it shows that extra thought was placed into service as some UZJ100 water pumps start weeping between the 90 and 180k services.

Yes, that 90k service (which was done at about 138K IIRC) was everything... cost was ~1700 - the report page is on that first page of the Flickr album.

I will try to take better pics soon. Those iPhone pics don't look so great.

For the current price and condition, i think its pretty good.
If i was buying, i'd want to see pictures of the engine bay, front suspension, rear axle and suspension, frame shots, etc.
