Ok been thinking about this since I bought the truck and finally decided to take a look, well was really hoping their was an audio and video out on my DVD player but that would be so easy huh!? Anyways anyone know of a harness to fit the factory DVD under the center armrest that turns into the 32 pin adapter for iPhone.

Go and speak with Neil at C.A.R.S. on Dorchester Rd. He is a friend of mine and is VERY familiar with my o1'. Him or Rich can tell you what you need and they will have it for you in stock.

X3 for my 02 - I didn't think it was possible with factory nav, show us how :)

Update

Ok so just went to an Car Audio shop, C.A.R.S (thanks BBQ), and they said their is a part that can be purchased for $250.... but it still only has a 50/50 shot of displaying the video but I would be able to control the iPhone. Well, as nice as that sounds, 250 for a 50/50 on shot with video leads me to want to go my own route. I have a Griffin Cable that can be hooked up to a usb port and to a Video and audio source and will run video out and sound out and charges. So my next step is splicing those wires and then finding the harness that works for the DVD player (separate) and seeing if I can use that, that way nothing has to be cut, drilled, or tamperd (minus removing the DVD player) and I can still be able to return to "stock". If anyone wants to call C.A.R.S. about the part I can give you the number and you can talk to him about the part if you'd like to order it. just PM me

I could care less about video.

Somebody tell me if this would work...

- Rip out the factory amp
- Install new amp and wire OEM speaker connections to it
- Run 3.5 mm (iPod side) to L/R co-axial (amp audio in) cord
- Plug in bluetooth adapter to 3.5 mm side of cord

I would loose OEM NAV and Entertainment but I don't use them anyway. I was thinking that for sound I could just plug in a tablet PC (audio out) or go wirelessly via the bluetooth adapter. I would have nav from the tablet also.

Good to know about the Vais option, or lack thereof. I was thinking of that same route. Keep us posted and now I am the Xwhatever '02 owner that is subscribed!

Another '02!

X Whatever; Also looking for a better solution for MP3 interface. FM modulator doesn't seem to have very good quality. What's the deal about the 2002 LX? No one seems to have a good solution for this model.

I think I might have found my solution but won't be able to try it out till after my honeymoon... I'll report back after my testing

The 2001-2003 actually are the same navigation generation (right?). I have the VAIS kit in my 03 (with Nav and 6 disc cd changer in the center console) and all work. So I don't know why it wouldn't work in a 2001-2002.

Reading the above I am still not sure if its Video and Audio you are all looking for or just audio?

I have a 2003 100 with built in sat nav and ac controls and the dvd unit under the seat and have been using a Dension Gateway 100 for the past 6 months with no issues at all.

You need to remove the centre box as you need to unplug your 6 disc cd changer and it plugs in there instead. You can also get a harness so that you can use the cd changer and iphone if you want but i figured cd's are dying so rather not worry about using the cd changer and instead do the centre box mod to remove the cd changer and give you more space and just use the ipod.

If anyone wants more details let me know as i will be removing the kit to install a parrot mki9200 instead for both bluetooth and music so am happy to take some pics.

I would be interested in knowing the exact part number of the unit you are using. I looked up Dension Audio Systems iPod Adapters, USB Adapter iPod, iPod Car Adapters, iPod Car Kits, iPhone Car, FM Transmitter - Dension and their Toyota compatibility list indicates that the Gateway Lite and Gateway Lite BT are compatible with the Land Cruiser, but no part number for the Gateway 100 is listed.

I would also be interested in some photos of your install. I have been wanting to add this feature to my truck for some time, but have not been comfortable trying something out at a relatively high expense without knowing for certain the product would fully function.

Thanks much.
