You da'man! Looking forward to it!

The 2001-2003 actually are the same navigation generation (right?). I have the VAIS kit in my 03 (with Nav and 6 disc cd changer in the center console) and all work. So I don't know why it wouldn't work in a 2001-2002.

i have the same year LC and the same VAIS kit. I called them yesterday because i wanted to keep my Sirius and also add something so i can run my iPod. They told me the only way to do it is to buy an external sirius and then use both without using the factory nav controls.

there has got to be a way to keep my sirius running through my nav and also hook my iPod to run through my speakers without an FM tuner..

anyone?

can i disconnect my DVD changer and use that port?

I have the 6 CD changer with cassette in my 01...Does anyone know if I can drop in a newer Toyota OEM system that will allow Bluetooth?

Not really wanting to go NAV just new higher end Toyota Stereo with Blue tooth.

That way no chords for Iphone connection and looks factory.

isn't the Bluetooth integrated in the nav?

I pulled my XM sat commander unit out in order to put the VAIS kit in the truck, as I was not paying for the radio anymore. Since the commander was hardwired in already, I used that port for the Vais kit, and so it runs as the MD changer. If I hit the Disc button again, it swaps to the DVD changer. I even have display of the track/artist etc on the nav screen and can use all controls.

If I had wanted to keep the satillite radio, something had to go, whether it be the VAIS kit, dvd changer or sat radio. There's only one extra port for the system.

I know there is a sat radio head unit that allows a auxiliary input, so that's probably your best route.

The 03 doesn't have bluetooth built in. Don't know about swapping units, but pretty sure there is more to swapping nav units in order for bluetooth. Better off just getting a parrot kit.

My 02 with factory nav and I just subscribed too.

pfran42, I like your idea, I am within the same line...factory stuff sucks!

for me LX470, I am planning to:

- remove factory Mark Levinson amps
- remove factory s***ty speakers and sub
- remove factory DVD changer (who use it anyways?)
- install single DIN A/V receiver in DVD changer location
- install new amps and new speakers
- mount Samsung Galaxy Tablet or Galaxy S2 to control A/V Receiver
- just use the factory touch screen to control A/C

Done!

Anyone know of any good Single DIN receiver which is compatible with Droid and which i can control from my phone? or via Bluetooth?

Fairly new here but have been thinking about this since I picked up my 01.

If someone is good with opening electronics and or can read the diagrams well, couldn't you potentially cut the audio signal for the tape deck and connect it to a Ipod/iphone/PC cord(male or female) to at least play music off of it.

In summary Tape button Becomes Aux??

P.K.

For those not in the know, there is a project underway, headed up by RobRed in which a harness is being fabricated that will allow 01+ owners to finally be able to break free of the loathsome NAV/Entertainment/Climate unit. We will have the freedom of picking any aftermarket double din HU we choose and the ability to mount it into an earlier model bezel with manual climate controls. This is going to make a lot of people very happy!

Btw, a lot of us have chipped in on R&D so that he can procure parts from various models to build the harness so I'm sure he would appreciate some of the newer members who stand to benefit from this project adding to the coffers. Everything is well-tracked and discounts are being offered to the contributors once the product is ready to go live.

I started messing with the whole ordeal but found the scope to be a little too time-consuming for my busy schedule. You can read more about it here:
