If ddm stops selling HID's, OME should stop making suspension products haha

and don't use the "auto" feature. Having your lights flicker on and off every time you go under a brigde or pull into a garage will kill them. OEM is fine for that stuff, but they also cost 3K.

Just flip the switch on and leave them on. Mine are either off all day, or on all day. I never flip them on and off.

Anyone have problems with the fog lights getting to hot? Im thinking about doing the 55w 5000k low beams and 35w setup in the fogs. Not sure what the deal is with DDM, I called to check stock last week and no return call....not surprised.

The DDM HID kit is pointless, to do any good you want what a lot of us did by retrofitting projectors. I would highly recommend it! Morimoto mini projector kit from the retrofit source

Actually that is completely false. Any one that has installed HID's (DDM or other) in the stock housing without retrofitting projectors can confirm the difference from stock lighting is night and day. Now the debate over the quality of light and light cutoff is a totally different discussion.

No doubt the Morimoto kit may be better. But in the interest of open dialog around the topic, in my experience on an '06 LX, the DDM HID kit provided a significant upgrade over the stock halogens.

I went: OEM Halogen --> DDM HID (because wanted more light) --> back to OEM Halogen (because one DDM light stopped working after 12 months) --> back to DDM HID (because I realized how much light I had given up, and found the halogens to be inadequate.)

If there was a skilled Morimoto installer near by, I'd probably jump on that ship...

But to say that DDM kit is pointless is not consistent with my personal experience. Just my 2 cents...

Even though I work for TRS ( Morimoto is our in house brand). I will still say HID's in the stock housing is still a massive upgrade. Yes, your cutoff isn't sharp but the LC can partially pull it off. I run the same kit (DDM from the first post) in my high beams now. Never had a issue with them to this date.

And for those with LX's. The projector bowls cannot handle 55W. You will peel the chrome right off the bowl in a matter of months.

Sorry for saying pointless... It is definitely brighter, but it's not necessarily that much better. There have been tests on other forums, I'll try to find a link. Not hid with the projector... Oolala

Yes, lumens and output are there. But beyond the headlight housing that lumen output is lost. If the headlight can't harness/focus the added light then it's useless. You will get the same amount of light on the ground with a proper HIR in a halogen reflector. HID in there and you have the same output on the ground but the rest of the added lumens is lost in "runaway" beam. Which is glare.

I didn't want to cut into the oem lights to do the retrofit because it isn't reversible. And I don't want the nipple look. It looks cool in the Range Rovers. Not sure why I don't like it in the LCs.

Maybe I'll just hold out for these Laser headlights BMW is working on.

I think they look great :)

Hey is that my avatar?? Haha if you look in my avatar you can see the projectors too. Looks oem if you ask me. The best part are the high beams... Holy cow, with hid and stock brights... Daytime.

I love my high beams :) . People don't know what to think when I flash them. They sit there longer when I flash

Which bi-xenon projectors do you guys run or does everybody run the same type???

Just curious...

Right now the only projector that fits in the 100 is the Mini H1 with minor modifications. I have an R&D headlight that I will put a fullsize bi-xenon projector with a 3" lens in there with 70W low beams, and 2 100W high beams. I'm really not sure if I can make it fit but I'm willing to find out.

Pardon my ignorance, but the 70W low beams and 100W high beams... Are you talking about a bi-xenon set-up that flows 70W for low and 100W on high are you going to shove the halogen bulbs in there, as well?

I thought the former, but have not really stayed on top of the lighting game and never heard of a bi-xenon set-up that gives two different juice flows for low and high.

THAT would be very cool...

Again, sorry if this sounds tard-y...

I plan on a 70W low beam (high beam as well via solenoid). 2 Mini projectors, only high beam(no shield) with 100W HID in them. They will be separately wired. Those will be my long range lights. So when I flip the factory stalk only the solenoid trips on the 70W projector. I will have another switch close for the 100W (2per side) projectors. It'll take a few weeks to get it done.

Thanks for the explanation.

I will have to keep an eye for the thread!

Thanks again!

:D

When are you doing this?

Will you be able to get a tan standing in front of it?
