I'm a car dealer in Louisiana and purchased my first Land Cruiser about 5 months ago, It's a 2000 with 145K miles. I love this vehicle and hope to ad some upgrades soon. I was previewing inventory up for auction at the CarMax in Baton Rouge and saw a 2000 LX470 with 101,500 miles in a light gold/sand exterior and the light tan interior. Overall in good to very good condition for the age of the vehicle.

This LX470 should sell at auction for between $9,000 and $10,000 I paid $8200 for mine at a different auction but it has some cosmetic issues. Carmax does an inspection when the vehicle is traded in and all conditions are announced so this vehicle passed inspection without any problems.

I love the CarMax auction because they don't charge a high fee to buy the cars and most important they don't have a reserve price, whatever the bid is they will sell the vehicle to the high bidder. So I may get lucky and pick this thing up for $7 or $8 thousand. But most of the time the average wholesale price is what the vehicles brings, in this case $9500 is most likely.

So here is the deal, If I buy this LX470, I will offer it to any member of the enthusiast community for $1000 over my cost. The buyer can inspect the vehicle, have a mechanic inspect it, or do whatever is needed to feel confident about the purchase. I can offer financing, and we work with low credit scores all the time. Down payments range from $2,000 to $4,000 depending on the strength of the borrower. I can sell a warranty for $300 that covers drivetrain for 3 months or 3,000 miles. More expensive and comprehensive coverage is available but the cost goes up fast. I'm not asking for any kind of commitment to buy the vehicle, just offering the opportunity to anyone who is interested.

I'm going to post some pictures here, hopefully in a few hours. If interested please send roy@drive22.comor post your contact information and if I am able to buy the LX470 on Monday, I will disclose the price and give the first responders the opportunity to buy the vehicle. I will post extensive pictures when we get the LX470 back to the lot. To complete the sale my preference is to meet face to face and have the buyer test drive the vehicle. I'm a Licensed Used Car Dealer in Louisiana.

If you have been looking and waiting for a great deal this may be it. I hope I can help a fellow enthusiast get a vehicle they will enjoy as much as I do Mine.

Thanks for looking.

Roy, if you would like to use this site to make money (vendor), please buy a vendor star.

We have access to auction networks and wholesale networks. I can check there and see what is close to you. or if you are willing to wait We will see whats up comming at the auction. In all my years of going to the auctions only a hand full of these vehicles have run through.

I will do a search late today and let you know what I find.

Thanks for the friendly reminder, as you can tell the site etiquette is new for me. I will read up on the vendor designation and make sure to use it properly.

$1000 seems a bit high to broker an auto deal, especially if you're trying to 'help out' the MUD community. That's 10% commission on the 100 series you're talking about. Most auto brokerages charge much less, or a flat rate of $500.

Just my opinion (ran an auto brokerage for 6 years)

JetRanger, I did charge $500 in the past for a buyer willing to place a nonrefundable deposit. That produced some unhappy customers when IMHO they got buyers remorse and nitpicked the car to death then complained about their non refundable deposit. Most of those deals had no problems but after a few cases where I kept the car and refunded them even though I didn't have to, I decided a higher markup with no deposit and the customer having the choice to take it or leave it was better.

On the 2000 LX470 with 102,000 miles, I have three guys who expressed interest so they each get an opportunity to buy at $10,890. My Auction invoice is $9,890. That's a good price for this vehicle. Plus if you were in the business, you know how much it costs to run a dealership and how much risk we take. Tak a look at the new Pics of the LX470 posted on Drive22.com and let me know what you think.

If you weren't so far away from me, I would come take a look at it. It is definitely is a good price if the vehicle is as good as you say it is.

Do you have any pics of the undercarriage? I'm interested in how much rust there is on the frame. If you have pics, please share. Where did this LX spend most of its life (city, ST)?
