Hello fellow Mud members,
I made an impulse purchase that didn’t go over well with my better half
.
Going to put feeler out in an effort to save my marriage
, (she is mostly upset because we live downtown San Diego and do not have parking for it without getting healthy annual ticket collections and because we have a 2001 LC that she loves)
So here it goes.
2000 LX470 w/134,500 miles, truck was purchased certified used in Dec, 2000 from San Diego Lexus w/11,000 miles, was used as a dealer demo vehicle from what he was told.
The good -
-CLEAN TITLE
-Ice cold AC / Hot heat
-134,500 miles
-Woodland Pearl (dark green not rare but not as common)
-“Technically”1 owner
-Have both original keys w/valet 3 total
-Everything functions as it should including AHC.
-Door locks are very fast, so not seem to be lazy at all.
-Interior is GREAT (oak color all original npt tears in front seats and rear looks like it was never sat in. Has 3rd row and all original floor mats.
-Starter was done at Toyota Poway in 2015 10k miles ago.
-Full ignition system was replaced by Lexus San Diego in 2015 10k miles ago.
-Have paper work on both
-No Nav truck (easy to swap in a double din w/car play)
-All vin stickers match and no body work has been done.
-Center console removable cup holder.
-tilt/telescoping wheel work.
-power fold mirror's work.
-late 2023 Costco interstate battery
-Sold and kept in SoCal. Solid frame with no rust, the truck was driven to local mountains, there is very little surface rust on lower arms and front skid plate. Nothing really that should even be mentioned but want to give all info I have.
-Smogged yesterday and passed with flying colors (smog tech said the visual showed that everything was OEM)
-No leaks around valve cover and 10mm bolts have no witness marks of ever being touched.
-No cold tick from manifold and hardware has never been touched.
-Transferred title with DMV yesterday and waiting on title.
-Runs and drives amazing, tracks down the road perfect, shifts perfect and power is good and smooth.
-no elbow mark on driver door card (RARE
)
-glass headlamps (cause it’s worth noting
)
-Michelin tires have 3-5k miles on them but date code is 2015, there is no cracking than I can spot.
The not so good-
-No real maintenance history, old guy said he did his own oil changes and would look for the maintenance folder her had. (Have not received) Have a few documents for all smogs and the 2 major repairs, starter and ignition.
-No record of timing belt (planning to drop off next week to SD Truck shop to have it gone through)
-The truck was not garaged and lived in Ramona Ca.
-The clear coat is not the best but not the worst. Only real peeling is above the driver door on roof edge, and starting underneath door/window trim, top of front bumper, rear top of bumper corners and top of side mirrors (typical places) few really minor door dings that can be repaired with PDR. I think it’s a 15/20 footer.
-Roof rack foot boots are dry rotted (was going to delete roof rack)
-The rubber roof protectors strips have come off.
-window/door trim peeling/chrome showing (4 new ones ordered)
-hood and hatch struts weak (4 new ones ordered)
-Has aftermarket windshield but I did a complete water test and it is not leaking, all 8 rivets were replaced but not with OEM.
-Few very un noticeable door dings and a little bump above the rear left tail lamp.
This is about as honest as I can be.
Because of ownership/milage/color and 2 major repairs being done I pulled the trigger. Was in a bit of a Land Cruiser frenzy that every 100 series lover gets into when they have access to a 1 owner low milage Cruiser!
“The Plan” was to baseline it mechanically, detail it really well, wet sand, buff and polish to see how good I can get it esthetically before possibly doing some paint repairs and PDR. Seems very well worth the investment with the owner history and milage. Would be a great Cruiser for a very long time! In the below driver fender photo, I just did a test area with some Sonax perfect finish and a dual action. Actually looks really good (you can see on of the 3 small dings)
I am VERY ANAL about everything so the esthetic flaws may not bother new owner especially if the plan is to build a solid low milage trail rig!
Unfortunately I can’t keep it
wife says no way to 2 LC’s that get 12MPG.
I paid 12k which I though was a great deal in todays market considering the milage/ownership and condition. After smog / registration I’m in it about 13k
I would consider letting it go as is for $14,500
If I send it through SD Truck Shop for timing belt water pump and any suggested items I would tack that on to the total.
Would be a great opportunity for someone that has a garage and know how to perform the timing belt water pump maintenance!
Side note: I have stock LC torsion bars and used rear OME coils, set of tan Weather tech liners for front and second row (used) that I will give with sale. Incase someone wants to over ride the AHC.
Happy to answer any questions! Have car Fax if you’d like to see!
