200 Vs. 250 FE - Owners Perspective

Driven them all. For what I expect of a vehicle, quality wise (both look and feel), i am sticking with my 200. I really dislike the screens on both the 250 and 550. They feel cheap going down the road. The interior plastics are not for me. The receiver hitch is almost unusable, with the very tight clearances. And the roof racks do not work for my use case. Sadly, after only owning Land Cruisers for almost 40 years, my next vehicle will most likely be the new Armada or maybe an LX600 once they get the engine issues worked out.

I feel you, but (unfortunately) the screens are here to stay. Reality of a new era. Both the Armada or LX600 will have the same or more screens as the Prados.

But they are either smaller or better integrated. Not like someone duct taped an iPad to the dash. Horrible
Lexus did it on the LS - I'm sure they'll probably put a similar setup on the LX at some point too.

The concepts from Lexus go really crazy with ipad overload

12 years ago I had to replace an air conditioner that had lasted 28 years. Last week I had to replace that air conditioner. After getting multiple quotes, all the a/c guys said “nothing is built like it used to be.”

Everything is like that now and maybe that’ll be the case with the 250 vs 200. Only time will tell.

I had a 200 and loved it, until I realized how damn heavy it is and hard to drive overall. My new 250 isn’t as “durable” as a 200, but so much more pleasant to drive.

So yeah, the 250 might not be as solid as a 200 or last 20-25 years (or whatever arbitrary number people like to say), but if the 250 lasts 10-15 years with a solid feel, I’ll be super happy.

I love the driver assists, but not the beeps I’ll admit. The comfort is awesome. The drivability when not off-roading is hands down superior to all my prior Cruisers.

It’s my 5th Cruiser, and so far it’s my favorite.

Not sure about the Armada, but the LX has been widely criticized in the way how the upper screen was (not) integrated to the rest of the dash. Nothing like the new Tundras, Sequoias and 6th gen 4runners with those TVs tacked onto the dash. I will give you that.

I am a big fan of what they did with the LX. Exactly what I am looking for. I just hope they keep it for the new LX700h, given that is apparently available triple locked.

The new Armada has been reviewed already by a few youtubers, I only watched one that is decent. The screen is long and as expected with Nissan they always try to push tech quick, not a bad thing in my books. I wish there were no screens but that is the future, nothing to do about it. Take the Mustang, still with the awesome Coyote engine but look at the screens, no nice ! Or at least IMHO. And back to the Armada, actually it looks that fiinally we are gettning here the international 4x4 version !!! Sadly, also V6 bi turbo like the LX, etc engines... no more V8's.

Actually, that is what I dislike of the LX600 interior: The double screens seem like an after tought, not like the LC300 which is more "smooth".

All in all, I would rather have an independent display for the basic stuff (analogue anyone ?), and a screen in the center slanted towards the driver.... but that is not the trend and we have to deal with it ! lol.

I can't imagine Toyota/Lexus will give us a triple locked LX600 or 700h. They aren't offering a front locker on even the TRD Pro 4Runner, the First Edition Land Cruiser or the TRD Pro Tacoma. It just seems that Toyota is not going to give us a front locker in the US.

It has already been announced by Lexus at the LA Auto Show for the US market. 2025 LX700h Overtrail.

Triple locked, 3 rows, 2400W inverter, AHC, 457HP/583ft-lb and combined 20 MPG. Sweet. Bring $$$.

Well, alright. I'm happy to be wrong on this one. That's very cool.

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Review: It’s Just Not the Same. Unless you’re talking about the Lexus GX, in which case it is the same. Wait, no, it’s worse.

Its like they read forums....?

I have to agree with everything buddy wrote. I think it’s 10K too expensive, but I imagine that’s where they want the 4Runner to be. They should have just sold us the 300 if it’s going to cost 70K+.

Yeah, not sure how Nissan can sell the new Armada Pro4X for a similar price to the 250 but the base 300 is over 90k.

I’d disagree with his opinion that the GX is miles better. Sure, I’d give the GX the edge but not by much. I find them to be pretty even across the board with regards to finish out and road manners. Both are expensive, no value propositions to be had with either.

I'm all over the place with the prior article and the new link where three generations are compared. The GX550 is well purposed to take care of the glamping/overland fad, but I think for me I enjoy and desire liveability (pardon the grammer) on-road and knowing the that capability is engineering into the platform when conditions deteriorate. I also don't want a minimalism/ikea-esque interior with exposed fake screws, and hard plastic. I want the traditional wood trim, metal, hidden hard touch plastics (certain parts you just need to use this to satisfy the program budget), leather, plush carpeting that look and feel luxury. Truth be told, hopefully Lexus understands this and makes avs and ekdss standard kit while allowing for more of an interior with better surface options for this generation to appeal to the Lexus of old and works towards benchmarking Range rovers rather then defenders.

I think it is part of making the vehicle more cost efficient and lighter, again for efficiency. And thats why we don't have this heft of the car any more. I wanted to gift me a LC300 here , aka LX600, and I left disappointed both times I test drove it. Leaving alone the fact that I feel the panels and controls seem like an after thought, the car finish did not feel a $110000 car. I haven't tried a Range Rover but the Defender is like your comment, feels "cheap" for a car that price, the engine was phenomenal though. I don't think Lexus will change, this is the ways now ...
