I have a 2013 toyota highlander that I think is worth $18k and I am considering the possibility of selling it and purchasing a 2008 land cruiser. I might have to expand my search radius to other states but it seems like it would be realistic to find one well cared for with less than 130k miles for $26k.

Since i have not owned either a 100 or 200 should I skip the 100 and look for a 200 in my price range? The larger engine seems like it would be worth having. What other factors should I consider?

The 200 is even wider than the 100, and the 100 is wider than the 80.
There are many more mods and after-market items available for the 100, but more and more 200 parts are being introduced everyday.
How do you plan on using the Land Cruiser? Will you tow with it? Will it be a daily driver?
Having owned a couple of each, it really depends on what you want from the truck. I tow an expedition trailer, mainly with the 100 and have never had any issues with lack of power. Yes, the 200 engine is bigger, and will have more power, but it has not been a problem in my 100. I actually think the 100 engine has more “pep” than the 200 engine when I am driving around town.
I am not going to go into the benefits or differences between Crawl and Atrak, there is plenty to read on both sides of each of those arguments.
It will probably come down to what you can afford and how you want to modify the vehicle, if at all.
Good luck in your search.

I'm complete opposite on this above statement. The 200 feels like a low flying jet in all aspects, town or highway. However, I prefer driving the 100, and the interior room of the 100, it's better use of space. The wife prefers 200. Early 200s are rather similar to late model 100s with gizmos.

The 200, frame and componentwise is bigger all around. Easy to notice, especially the frame, it's huge on the 200 vs the 100.

I have been considering a 200 for absolutely no good reason. Late model 100 series have more pep than earlier ones due to improvements in transmissions and VVT motor. That said, look in Denver and Dallas for the most plentiful options for 200 series and best prices. I would avoid the lx570 if you want to do anything with a lift at some point.
Specs say the 80 as 76" wide, 100 76.4" and 200 at 77.6". I think the 80 width feels so much narrower because it's width is exagerated by the flares.

I haven't owned a 100 series, but I have a 2008 and absolutely love it. just got back from 4 days in Moab and 4 in Telluride. The engine pulls through the mountains great! the suspension on the 200 is amazingly capable stock, and has a ton of availability for added lift.
I use my truck to tow a boat, haul the kids, and wheel through trials 200s probably shouldn't be on and it does everything pretty well. not the best solution for any single circumstance, but the best overall multicapable rig out there.

check out the 200LCDC page or the 200 section. should be tons of photos popping up this week from this years trip.

It all comes down to what you want to use the rig for. If you intend to wheel it, I would lean heavily toward the 200 series. I haven't owned either but I wheeled for hours behind both on multiple trails at Cruise Moab this spring - similar mods, lifts, armor, driver experience, etc.. I was really disappointed in how the 100s performed. Something about the weight distribution and the overhang in the rear on the 100s really limited their capabilities. I had been a fan of the 100s prior to this trip but I came away vowing never to buy a 100 (or recommend it). It may seem like a small sample size but I did a lot of spotting for these rigs and paid close attention to performance over many types of obstacles. The 200s flat out performed the 100s by a fair margin. For a slightly larger rid, the 200s seemed more nimble and the 100s more sluggish. Just my $0.02.

I have been driving a Maltec 200 with AHC and it has been a true joy on and off the road. I dont see the need to air down near as much as the ride is very nice but traction still suffers when not aired down. Not sure why but I have not seen any AHC 200 in my searches but that would be my choice in a 200.

Ahc is available on the lx570.

For all years. They can be tricked into riding higher than stock, but no one has figured out how to "lift" one.
Sleep has been running a 570 for a couple years

Some really prefer them for the creature comforts and nicer interior.

Hank Tank also rocks a 570

The newer ones look sick!

2017 LX 570 w/ 20" wheels & 33" tires - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion

I still hate the grill.

I am fine with the grill. I don't like the front bumper.

The 2008-11? for LX was the best looking to me, but i guess its because it looks more like the LC
