I am beginning to think about replacing my wife's LX 470. It is a 2000. It has been an unbelievable vehicle. We keep our vehicles 16 plus years. Any more feedback as to whether the 200 has the long term durability of the 100?
Also, and not 100 forum worth, but I hear the new Nissan is similar to 200, for about half the price. Any thoughts on its durability.
As a former Nissan Pathfinder fan (owned 2 of them) and now a Land Cruiser nut, I dont think there is a comparison in terms of reliability or durability. The LC is on another level.
My 200 is presently at the dealer having an oil leak repaired. I am at 69,000mi. Pretty rare occurrence I am told. Thankfully, covered under warranty. My 2001 4Runner is still running at 250,000mi and doesn't leak one drop.

Pathfinder...
I remember wishing for one of those back when they competed with the 4-Runner in the off-road space.
Back when it was worthy of this from 1988:
It's interesting how Nissan steered it completely away from the off-road market.
Now Nissan pits it against the Highlander, Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer...none of which are marketed to off-roaders any more.
I wonder why they did that. It used to be right up there at the top...
Oh well. Maybe they figure their X-Terra took that spot? I dunno...
Unfortunately, the offroad SUV market must be very limited, but the soccer mom cross over SUV market is wide open. I remember test driving a QX56 before it became QX60/80 and feeling like its the new form of family van. It felt very effeminate to me. The salesman was being very apologetic for its styling cues. Thank God, toyota leaves the LC alone but in stock form its to low to the ground making it feel a bit soccer mommy to me especially with the low profile tires.

Ya. Amazing how the vehicle looks/feels like a different beast with a lift and decent tires/wheels. Before and after build photos are interesting to me in that way. Not just the great builds, but to see it suddenly take on a very different attitude.
It's also interesting that with the stock suspension and tires, it actually drives more like a powerful crossover than rugged SUV. Change those, and suddenly it feels like a brutish truck.
My 200 (ok, its an LX...) is the only LC/LX that has had electronic grimilins. I think in today's vehicles, you are bound to see them more and more...
EDIT:
Continuing on that thought... my 100 feels more secure with regards to the electronics package. I think this is mainly because I have never had a problem with the electronics on that truck and the fact that a ton more electronics have been added when comparing my 100 series LC as compared to my 200 series LX. This includes the AHC and the transfer case. I REALLY prefer the simplicity of a manual transfer case selector and standard suspension.
With that said, we have NEVER been left stranded by the LX, which says something regarding overall reliability, but then again, we have never been left stranded by the 100 either.
I'd be curious to hear more about the gremlins you've experienced.
I've only had one (the one where 4Lo and check engine flashes). Finally figured out that if I want it to go away immediately, disconnect and reconnect the battery. A little annoying, but agree that since it has never left me stranded, I continue to have complete faith.
On my LX, I have had:
1. The occasional flashing of the center diff light that goes out after driving a bit and then restarting the engine. Note, that this typically occurs when first starting the engine during the cold months. There is a thread on this one. No fix yet, as troubleshooting is nearly impossible because the dealer shuts the engine off and then it does not come back for quite some time.
2. The audio changing sources sporadically. This is typically when the audio source goes to SAT and I am sitting there dumbfounded as to why the song changed... oh, and I do not have the subscription, nor am I messing around with buttons at the time.
Those are the ones that I can remember right now...

The leak was coming from above A/C compressor on the engine timing cover. New gaskets, significant labor $1,621, covered under extended warranty. No issues since. They had not seen this before, but then again they rarely see a late model Landcruiser.
Hey Haggis, is that by chance my old 87' 60??!! It's Jason from v town/three rivers, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 200 series this week, and was on this thread, saw your avatar and thought, hey that looks familiar!
How do you like your 200 series? I still have my 80 and am going to get a 2013 likely now for EL and the kids.
