More props. You set out to do something, and you git-er-dun. With an awesome and new approach no less.

I think many will follow the trail you blazed. Lightweight armor. Would seem there's lots of opportunities here for shops to step in with bolt on solutions. With some tweaks in style.

The straight cuts are working for me more now that the front echoes the rear.

@FlightMedic178 Looks great, really nice work! Definitely.

Still, folks squawking about mileage...gotta shake my head on that in general. It's a gas hording v8, so are the 100's. Are people really that concerned about mileage? Why buy a Land cruiser then? I don't even worry about it, or even think about it, I just pull into most gas stations, problem solved. If you can drop politician level loot, on a vehicle, mileage should not be a concern.

Nicely done. I'd put some dielectric grease inside the fog light connectors, and maybe seal around them a bit with some Gorilla tape or similar, as they'll be more exposed to water.

They are not that bad...relatively. My '18 tacoma got 10-12 and struggled when I had any kind of load on the highway at 75. These things seem to get 13-15 no matter the load or speed. I prefer it. I understand the curiosity folks have about MPG when mods are performed, but I have to agree, fuel efficiency shouldn't be a primary concern for any mod on these beasts.

....Only having a 20 Gallon tank is cause for another debate though.

I filled the tank this morning and I’ve driven 150 miles after the bumper chop. My “after refuel” average is currently reading 14.7 mpg. And that’s including 2 hours of rock crawling.

As to the new wind noise question... there’s no new noticeable noise.

Agreed. The silly dinky tank is very 1st world.

So awesome👍 When slow off-roading you’re performing at a level of a vehicle with a much bigger lift in many regards. Your CV angles (and driveshaft angle) are unscathed and ingress/egress remains easy. No need for extended brake lines either.

Ripping down the interstate at 85mph is unaffected too.

I love it!

Today I got the front inner fender walls cut and back in giving the bumper a lot more stability.
Also I drilled some new holes and relocated the parking sensors.
It all turned out great and now I have port and stern sensors... fancy! Haha

Testing the reinstalled sensors.... it works!

I used a 13/16 spade bit for the hole.

I very crudely drew what I’m looking for in a front bumper.
Im not looking for light tabs or winch mounts just solid, very basic protection to match the rear.

And I’m on the schedule with the fab shop for next Wednesday! :)

That design should prove to be beneficial in a front small overlap crash. Designs which were pre-small overlap tests, did not perform well in that regard.

That looks cool. I love it.

Very very cool! Bold trailblazing that pays off - approach angles, weight, and looks. Maybe consider some front skid plates? The extra approach angles might egg on more chances for scraping.

On a visual note, this definitely has some prerunner/baja flair - some lower offset (bronze?) wheels and retro Toyota D pillar stripes (like @ethernectar) might look cool.

Can't wait to see some trail pics!

Looks good finished. Good job! I too would suggest a skid up front. I wheeled with a taco a few months ago and unfortunately he took a stick into the radiator. He too had a modified light weight tube bumper with no skid. We put three raw eggs in his radiator and it plugged the hole to get him home. Science with proteins!
He’s running a skid plate up front now.

Skid is definitely a good idea. The Aussies call it a bash plate. :)
