So I have decide to pick up a 200 rather than a 100 the next time I get back in country and I am just wonder if there is any consensus on where a well maintained/serviced 200 may bottom out on depreciation.

I look at the production numbers, and think about all the cars in the north east and cars lost in accidents and just wonder about that question.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Search on www.Autotrader.com, distance: any, sort price low to high.

Resale value on the 200 is very good. Toyota/Lexus and Porsche have the strongest resale values, according to KBB.

My personal experience: Bought a 2013 LX with 28,000 miles in May 2016 for 56,500. A little over 2 years later and the price floor for that model year (according to Autotrader) is 45,000 with under 60,000 miles.

I have an 08 with almost 200k miles. I would think I would just about have the one of the most depreciated 200 series around. If I were to sell it, I would try to get in the low $20k range.

Others please chime in if you agree.

Any unplanned maintenance? Leaks? Does it still feel solid?

It needed a radiator, water pump and a starter, but those were the only unplanned things.

Once I hit 200k I plan on replacing the spark plugs, o2 sensors and all the fluids.

It still drives and rides like a low mileage cruiser. These are amazing vehicles.

I bought an -08 on here with a few mods (Bumper, Winch, Small Lift, Tires) with 203k miles and some small cosmetic issues for $22k. I think it'll be a few more years before you'll see these trucks substantially below $20k, even with higher mileage due to the relatively small build numbers. The cheap 100 series are all generally earlier trucks from when the production numbers were 4-5x per year what the 200 series ever made. Plus some of those are getting eaten by rust, die in accidents, etc.

When I was shopping, the big decision was whether to spend $35-40k on a few years newer truck with 100k miles, or save $13-18k and buy one with higher miles. I'm thinking I can drive this one for 5-10 years, bank the difference for in case some issues arise. Then sell it for ~$10k with 300k miles and come out ahead. Only time will tell. My 100 had 320k when I sold it and was still a very solid rig.

My guess is the price of 100s will come down and the floor of 200s will increase over time. More and more people are finding this platform, rightfully so given all the places you guys take and prove your rigs. Plus XO guys and a number of others put the 200 at the top of their list doesn't hurt. There's really no reason coming from any earlier LC platform not to skip the 100 series (at least with prices as they are today). Factor in reduced production numbers and huge unkown of what the next series has in store and the 200 could find a sweet spot down the line, with much fewer to be had.

I bought an '09 LX570 cause it was cheaper than the LC200, got mine for $26k, 109k miles. Replaced the radiator, WP, and starter, bled the AHC, added a couple small mods, fixed the rear auto lift gate, ready for another 100k, probably sell it for more now to someone who is knowledgeable. One factor to consider is the price of fuel, if we see $4 a gallon you can bet that people will be shopping for more fuel efficient vehicles, which could affect resale value.

For some reason when I look at the pricing on the Fj cruiser, which was produced in far greater numbers but discontinued , I could see them bottoming out 15 to 20. With trashed/rusting examples going for 10ish, and low mileage examples going for more
