I know I might not get much info on this topic here .. ( or anywhere actually ) .. Due to distance Remap / tune options for my VDJ seems to be complicated to me .. ( still doing the research and contacts in Australia ) so the option might be doing it myself ..

Any lead or comment on that line would be appreciated .. It can be on the way to reflash the factory ECU or with a real chip .. ( Like UniChip or Armax ) would like to avoil rail chips ..

Being situated where you are you may have to send you ecu somewhere to be tuned. DPU, GSL, Power Torque vic, Just Autos all great places for a remap in Australia. They also so chips/modules if you wish.

Have a chat to these companies, they will give you the pros and cons of either chip or remap and help you make a decision to which one suits you best.

This is the group of people I would talk to. If you plan on upgrading the turbo you can add Gturbo and UFI.

If you worried about damage or loss, insure it for 2k. Should cover the cost of a new ecu if it comes to that.

Rather not go through that process .. I've been told that there is easy to replace one ECU with another in 70 series .. ( related to the key chip / transponder ) but gotta verify that first ..

Hello,

70 Series ECU reset/replacement is rather easy. A few bolts and two connectors and off you go. However, at a dealer price of around US$ 1800.00 apiece, replacing a lost ECU is possible but not recommended.

I have read good reviews about Unichip. It is worth finding out more about it.

It might be possible to remap the ECU yourself without sending the unit overseas. It involves software, interfaces and other equipment. You plug the ECU in and edit the operation surface data stored on the chip. @Dougal did it a while ago with a Nissan ECU. You may want to do a search and have a look.

Let us know what route you choose.

that was my first option .. turns out they don't sell their chips to no dealer and no dyno for " tunning " same goes with ARMAX stuff from Safari ..

Being a GCC-SPEC truck, the ECU is specific to that market. Other markets may have difficulty changing it up.

They fry it, you buy it.

I'm gonna pull my ECU tomorrow to get some data from it ( part number etc ) I would not give up .. ( not yet at least )

Hello,

Time for a home brew upgrade then. The tools and software are available out there.

However, at 200+ HP the 1VD-FTE has a lot of power as it is. There is plenty of torque as well, available at low rpm; the curve is flat.

GCC-LHD-only part number.

Be careful David. You don't want to let the smoke out of that. :)

I'll source another one " compatible " ECU and will keep mine safe and sound ..
