hello

i'm planning to swap engine in a 40, wich choice is the best ?
1UZ-FE
or
2JZ-GTE (or 2JZ-GE)

with wich manual gearboxe ?, else an auto but 'll fit a fj40 ?

use : daily driver , no offroad at all

Not anymore - there are various aftermarket ECU options out there. There are also various people who claim they can wire the OEM ECU, albeit at a hefty price.
 
The vvti is just more difficult to get pass I think around 400hp. I was running a 2jzgte with vvti using a mega squirt ecu. But I was making a mild 450whp but was capable of 800hp. The non vvti is easier to tune from my understanding. And yes the stand alone ecu's are not cheap!

wich ? because i can read there is about 3 versions of this engine .

thank for the information , nobody know someone who make the swap into a fj40 ?

There are a couple 1UZ's out there, and a few 2UZ's, but most of the 2's are not in the US. There are a couple in Pakistan that ran the manual transmission out of the 100 series that we did not get in the US. Then there are a couple guys on the forums that are trying to mount the H55 behind it. You'd either need a custom bell housing or adapter plate for that, as well as figuring out a clutch setup.

it's easy for us in europe to have transmissions from a 80, 100 or even a h55F from a 61 or bj42...
the thing i'll would like to know is wich engine to use ? , which model year ?
