Well figured I would share my pain and suffering with others of dealing and building old trucks
My Goal is the have a truck I can use both as a camping vehicle and also be able to take down harder trails with out worry, I was originally going to do this with a HDJ81 I had but decide against it for a few reasons.
I am no stranger to Toyotas in general (have had Landcruiser's, 4runners and pickups/Tacoma's before all 90s or newer) but this is my first time owning a 80s Toyotas.
So I started this whole process with a blunder of buying a over priced rusted out 82? short bed wheeler ( we will call the sunroof cab) got blinded by my desire to own s***ty Toyotas, and so I bought this and had it towed to my friends house where I do most of my vehicle work,
the plan was to through on a 2wd diesel cab ( we will call the Blue cab) that my friend had inherited from his grandfather, get the truck street legal and call it a day....well let me tell you that did not happen....
So after take the blue cab off the frame so we could scrap it, it was set up vertical on a pallet in the back yard.
In the mean time I was going to a full axle service front and back...breaks, bearings seals, the normal things...
but then I remembered I had a set of axles that came out of a driving 85 pickup that were in good shape with newish brakes and everything that I was originally planning into swapping onto my 95 4runner but never did! so decided to swap those in and would do High steer at the same time as the front axle was already set up for it
this is a very slow build for a few reasons First: I am lazy, 2: I spend as many weekends as I can camping
So in the mean time I bought a fully built 1st gen for cheap to rob for parts; 6 shooters, chromo 30 splines birfs, 5.29 gearing and some other goodies to use down the road,
