1KZ-TE Transmission Choices

I am wondering if a H55 Transmission w/Transfer Case will mate up to a 1KZ-TE. I just bought a 1KZ-TE (thanks Toddm) and it currently has an automatic transmission with t-case and I just can't see going with an Auto tranny in an FJ40. Seems a but sacraligious.

My research so far as pointed me in the direction of going with a R151 Transmission but I am finding it hard to find one here in the US. I can get my hands on a H55 and these seem to be great trannies. The project I am starting is a conversion to Diesel by installing a 1KZ-TE into 1968 FJ40.

Any ideas???

definately not a bolt on swap with the H55F in the 1KZ-T .. and adapter will bbe required to make it work

Why not the auto? Plenty of owners run autos in the V8 FJ40s.

I'm thinking the w56 or G52 should bolt right up where the a343F did before.

I'm no expert and I'm just guessing off of a couple rigs that I have personally seen.

Almost had an R151F from a guy in NC....he sold it to a local the very day that I sent him an email...bummer.
Looks like I will just stay with the Auto setup. Better for mudden any way...

Being a 1KZ TE,wont the computer/sensors be set up for an auto anyway?

And lengthwise,will either transmission be too long?
