1KZ-TE diesel leak from injection pump, my shop in AZ wants to send it out to get rebuilt, will be +/- 2k, has anyone rocked non OEM/Rebuilt injection pumps and how did it go? If you rocked non OEM where did you purchase from?

Realistically I do not have the experience to rebuild this myself so these are pretty much my options.

Thanks in advance.

I sent mine to Diesel Fuel Injection Services – Repair and Service in Scappoose, Oregon - https://dfispdx.com/ as many others here on ih8mud have. In 2018 it cost $1300 to do mine on my 13bt which is different, so I’m sure it’s gone up some, not sure how much.

They are great and can give you a ballpark quote over the phone usually. I would expect it to be similar in cost. I would also plan on the injectors as well.

Where is it leaking from? I had a leak on mine from a random o-ring and was able to swap out the o-ring while it was on the truck.

Couple other people on here had a leak from the top and thats another gasket that can be replaced without removing the pump.

I'd get a second opinion before you start pulling.

It’s leaking from the area circled, from what I can tell there isn’t a gasket or seal in this spot, I’ve watched a few videos on them, but again I’m not expert, I think the rear facing spot is the rotor head.

I’m 95% sure this is where my shop is wanting to send it, I have found a new OEM one online for $2100 which would be about the cost of it being rebuilt so I’m trying to figure out which I want to do

Hi @preveng - curious if your issue was causing a slow engine start before it progressed to not starting? I have a 1 KZ that starting but is inconsistently starting slow (many cranks) but getting worse.

I had absolutely no other mechanical issues other than a very slow diesel leak on the injection pump at the junction of the rotor head and the actual pump, it may have started a bit slower? But I noticed the leak very shortly after buying the car so I wouldn’t know if it was abnormally long, maybe a 2 second crank to start? I can update you when I get it back and situated and see if I can tell if it takes a shorter amount of time to start.
