This morning i get a call that some thief decided to steal what ever copper they could find in my shop back yard. They openned up all container and pulled all the tens of 300' long welding cable they found. They must have been disturbed because many extentions were left on the ground. Even my neighbor container were openned and 50 or 60 mags wheel were pilled up in my yard getting ready to be loaded up.

At this point i didn't feel there was enough to justify claiming to the insurance.

Then this afternoon one of my worker going through our container realize that my LC100 winter tires on OEM toyota mags were missing with brand new winter tires on them.

I call toyota to get a quote for 4x and almost fell of my chair when i'm told they are almost 1k each....could that be?

I'm sure they can be found fairly cheap in the states, but here in Canada they must be VERY rare. And frankly wouldn't probably fit any other truck other then my LC100 with 5x150 patern!

EDIT: We call them mags here, it is shorter then aluminium and "alloy" is not much used with French speaking. I know there are not Magnesium, but at 1000$ each..maybe? lol

Find some used rims somewhere in the US and pay for shipping. I've seem them anywhere from $100 to 1K for OEM 16's and a little more for 18's


It would be cheaper than your current route.

Can you drive over the border and pick up some Tundra steels for $50 for 4. 18 inch thou. I picked up 4 for 50 and 4 Half used Duratracs for $350. They are 275/70 R 18 or 33 inch. All off of craigslist.

I bought some wheels from a fellow mudder a month ago, guess what.....

Cops just showed up yesterday with my wheels, without the tires. So i have now 9 LC100 wheel, without counting those currently on the truck (5x). lol

Man, and after all that! That is both good and bad news I am sure. Hopefully you kept the boxes the wheels were shipped in...should be pretty easy to sell them through the classifieds here. There are always people looking for an extra set for either winter tires or a trailer build...

Glad you got the wheels back...still sucks about the tires though.

Wheels schmeels, the real $$ was in the copper I bet! Cops didn't happen to bring that back, did they? The price of copper has gone up so much that Lowe's and Home Depot lock up their electric grade wire and cable!

pretty good they found the wheels and brought them back. They probably wouldn't bother in the US these days...

They did, my good friend was the inspector on the case (i'm pretty sure otherwise i wouldn't of got them back). Can't comment more on the issue but looks like he was able to convince them to bring them back. They had sold the new tires 400$ for all 4x... i still have to buy new one.

I'm happy to get those wheel back, because they were chromed. Not that i like chromed wheels but chrome will be ok for winter .

EDIT: nope i didn't get my thousand feet of heavy cable for the welders...
