So after reading up on a few forums and asking in the Troopys of Australia facebook page, it looks like the Aussies are changing oil every 5k and changing filter every 10k. What are peoples temperature on this schedule?

I should have clarified, KM's not miles, 5k kms and 10k kms

Those intervals sound reasonable as those figures translate to ~3k-6k miles.

yep, that's what toyota australia prescribed for the 1HZ, i think its in the service manual as well, not sure as its just ingrained in my brain, nearly everyone i know with toyota straight 6 diesels follows that with mineral oil, and i and a few others i know also change the filter at 5K. you can extend if you go synthetic or add a by-pass filter

I just wait for the oil pressure to drop but that technique requires a keen eye. :)

x2 nearly bang on with 5000km and oil pressure drop

Hello,

Oil and filter every 5000 km is good. Check level twice between changes and complete if necessary.

Would never cross my mind perform an oil change without oil filter change .. I might not change fuel filter or air filter at the same time, but sure oil and oil filter its a must in my books

They are dirty IDI diesels.
Every 5000km or whatever the equivalent of that is in miles. Oil is cheap, forget your extended intervals unless you have a 1hd series engine (DI) then rock 10,000km intervals

I change the 1HD's oil and filter every 5000 ks, cheap insurance IMHO

I wouldn't bat an eye doing 10k with the 1hd with a good quality synthetic

If you are turboing a 1hz, I suggest synthetic.

I do change my oils 5K or les swith AMSOil Marine and in my books still cheap insurance .. down here it's pretty humid and hot, so good oil and keeping decent intervals it's the least that I can do for them ..
