I've got a friend with a low pressure fuel leak coming from the injection pump on the shaft that the throttle cables attach to. Toyota parts diagram calls it a timing cover part number 22790-17080. I can't find this part available anywhere or know if it can be resealed. The o-ring between this and the injection pump housing is available but that isn't where the leak is coming from. Any information would be appreciated and if any available part numbers replace the one I have that would be even better.

Thanks,
John

Take it to someone who knows these and replace every single gasket, seal and o ring at the same time. Because 90% of owners who fix one leak end up doing this anyway.
Canadian and Australian diesel shops both charge around $500. While its in pieces it can be inspected for any worn parts.

The other thing is I can not find that part number. It has most likely been changed and given a new number.
The 1HZ have been in production for 28 years and the pumps themselves have 4 or 5 versions from memory ,although they all look the same.
So you need the pump Toyota or Denso code and/or the pump part number.
Any denso specialist can identify that pump and get the correct parts.
Any other pump with the "C32" or what ever you mates is, will be considered identical.

Is it leaking from the red arrow? And the info you need in yellow.

No not leaking from the top it's on the side and in your picture bolts to where your picture has the plug in it. I'll post up a screen shot.

Might as well do a full rebuild or reseal as @roscoFJ73 suggested. I bet you another seal will start to leak after another.

Mine was leaking where the rod (not sure what it is called) is because it wore out...you can see it in the lower left corner of your illustration picture (22550).

Yep....the ACSD seal is a well documented failure on these pumps. You need to replace one gasket and consider removing the assembly all together. Any Bosch pump place will have the gasket (cheap) and blanking plate. You need slightly shorter bolts to reassemble.

I have done that on 1HDT pumps however this can't be done with a blanking plate. As you can see in my parts diagram the part I'm talking about has the provisions for the throttle and transmission kick down cable attached.

Also I'm a diesel mechanic and probably should have mentioned that at the start. The pump has fairly low KM and the truck runs great. It is one of the cleanest burning engines I've seen as far as 1HDT and 1HZ go other than a rebuild. A lot have a lot of traffic idle hours so they get a bit slobbery in both the fuel side and from glazed cylinders.

Anyways the part that's leaking is unavailable even through my sources and I'm just cross referencing to find a sub up number.

This is the part number for a 1HD T COVER SUB-ASSY, TIMER 22790-17141. I'm wondering if the 1HD T part will work on the 1HZ?

Got it was poking around on the parts website I use and the apparently changed the part number. It now comes up as 22790-17040 instead of 22790-17080. But yes the above part you have pictured is what we are after. Thanks for the help guys. As you can see the part number has changed.

Its the timer piston. Lucky you got it before it flogged out the housing and added another $500 onto the rebuild. These are one of the main wear points on a 1HZ injection pump.

Can you tell us more. The diagrams come up automatically once you have chosen the vehicle ,year and type of part. The currency is set to the market in your "Account Preferences"(on the LH side of the start page) but there is no AUD preference. I think the default currency is USD.

This is in their site news.
