Hi Guys,

I love the sound of the 1hz, so much I made a video of it - check it out if interested.

PS, the background engine noise is a Beech 18 flying over while I was shooting the video.

Awesome video! Plus there's the added pleasure of surfing thru the rest of the Land Cruiser vid's!

Lois:

Sounds like it was a little cold...Mine doesn't rattle even that much when it is warm.

Really, quiter than the 1HD-T?
That is impressive.
So is the 1HZ a newer 1HD?
IE: what the 13B is to the 3B?

Cheers,
Nick

3B is to the 13BT
2H is to the 12HT
1HZ is to the 1HD-T

IDI is to DI with factory turbo

Block to Block in the same line is the same.

IDI exhaust in my experience is much less acrid then DI exhaust (when comparing these engines with their brethern, side to side.

Seeing as we all are in a video mode...

Then there is always "Storm'n Norman"! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhwfqZR6So8

I've always loved that video...

Tech: Yes, the HZ is quite the quiet engine all things relatively speaking...

Louis Great engine video..
You Should consider doing that with all the different Land Cruisers you import.

Hi Rich, I am going to be making vritual test drives for them in the future - so people can get a good idea of what they are like.

Jim, the engine was cold. I have 3 HZJ73's here, with 92k kms, 107k kms, and 125k kms - they all sound the same. But - they are all leaving soon:(

Yep - Love to see video's, very cool! Thanks Louis.

13bt with no muffler - hope to up load a video soon.

Cool, we are having a club meeting here next week - I will video a bunch of different engines running to see if much of a difference is notable over the net.

you prehead your engine .. it's cold . ?

I ask coz sound pretty quiet .. my 1HD-T when is cold sounds pretty loud until it reach operative temp .. and gonne to be really quied and sound really nice ( less than yours for sure )

Other thing is you up your rpm preior to shut off .. I'm always let it ( oil press ) goes down and normal before shut off ..

I always let the truck idle for a few seconds before I shut it off - well, except for that time as I was in "Video cameraman mode". There would never really be a reason to rev the engine higher then shut it down - I was just showing the sound of the engine at different rpm.

My favorite sound from the 1HZ is when I down-shift and have the engine compression braking at around 2500 rpm - pure music!

My favorite sound is when I flatten in 2nd to climb a steep sand dune.
As it gets to the top and it doing about 2800 rpm it gets a real roar resonating from the sports muffler.
It reminds me of a WW2 Spitfire aircraft climbing away from an attack;)
