I've got a 1HDFT goin in my 60 series that alteady has an H55 trans. The FT is getting a turbo upgrade and i was wondering if you guys know of an HD clutch to hold up to the power. Or just swap out the trams to H151?

Has anyone done this before?

Did it before. The (just rebuilt) H55 gearbox didnt like the 700-800 nm... The H151 and HF2a make an old H55 look like antique. It has forced lubrication also.

It looks like most swap the trans with it if you plan for extra power.

I really like the H55. If I can keep it, it will keep my driveshafts in place and tcase.

Thank you for the lead. How's your clutch holding up? And what kind of power are you getting out of your FTE?

No issues what so ever. My FTE is stock but I have been told my pressure plate is good for 1000nm. My wagon does not have a clutch booster and it is only very slightly harder to use than the stock 3F clutch. No issue though for my or my wife.
As far as the H55F goes, I decided to stick with it due to ease of conversion and the knowledge that it's stood behind plenty of stout 12HT's which make similar peak power to a stock FTE (FTE makes more average HP/Torque). If I ever decided to go hypo (unlikely as it's still just an old daily driven 4WD), I'd swap it out.

i’ve had a 1hdt tuned attached to a h55 i believe with the larger diameter heavy duty isuzu clutch. holds very well and no trouble so far. now i’m only about 60000km since the swap but i’ve hailed a heavy trailer a few times with no issues just stay out of fifth for towning.

up to the input you will use ( if you decide to keep the H55F ) you will be using 300mm clutch ( exedy have it ) ..

important you would need to swap inputs on the H55F if that was behind a 2F engine .. or in my case behind a 2H coz the input will be short for the bellhousing if you plan to use Mr. T parts ..

BTW I'll take my H55F any day over my H150

Great suggestions and feedback. Much appreciated.

I just like how the H55 feels (gearing and shifting). I have the H151 behind my FT 80 but it's all stock.

the 60 series is heavy with drawers, water tank, on board air on board inverter, roof rack etc. I don't think it will see any towing duty.

Cross-country travel and dunes is all it's going to see. The dunes here are very hard to negotiate with a heavy rig.

My 1HDT/H55F combo has an upgraded turbo and intercooler and pulled right through a brand new OEM clutch. Torfab sourced and HD terrain tamer clutch and I've had no issues through about 10K miles.
