Hey Folks,

I just found a coolant leak at the injection pump. It seems to be coming from the injection timer wax plunger. I wonder if any of you have seen this problem before and if yes, what I should expect.

This is the general area where it comes from, as taken from the 1HD-T engine manual. Notice the part with the two coolant hoses on the right... it leaks more or less from the end of it.

This is how it looks like in situ... This picture was taken a few minutes ago with the engine cold (not dripping then)... When warm it drips about one drop every 5 seconds or so... I've lost perhaps a few litres in the past few days, it doesn't seem to be leaking when the engine is not running/cold...

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your input!

replace the cold start wax pot or use a block off plate and pull the choke.
the wax pot is one whole assembly. coolant runs through the pot heats the wax which pushes the plunger forward and off the fast idle during cold starts.
i don't think you can repair this part.
i have one in the garage.
i will check and post back.

Thanks! I looked around and came across quite a few posts mentioning the ACSD, so I guess this is it then ;)

I'll bypass the device and plug the hose for now... The blanking plate is something I could do myself...

Thanks again for the confirmation!

the wax pot is removeable via a circlip and probably has an o ring or seal that is suppossed to keep the coolant in the cooling system.
i have hi res pictures.
just e mail me
