This is my injection pump (from a 4 cylinder). I have temporarily removed the ACSD and put a blanking plate on while I modify my ACSD.
I'm no professional, but in my experience (building or rebuilding a couple of pumps myself, but mostly seeing where other people's leak), these are the common leak points (in yellow). The yellow circle on the blanking plate represents the seal in the central shaft of the ACSD. The red line is where I would say yours is most likely leaking from.
Try spraying it down with brake cleaner, letting it dry off, then starting the engine and seeing where it starts to get wet.
Hi, I have called 10-15 shops locally and none of the shops would touch my rig... So I tried to take the pump off by myself. Can you please help me with some questions? Thanks in advance for any guidance!
- Timing Marks (Photo 1)
I rotated the crankshaft to align the white paint mark at 12 o’clock. However, I noticed there’s also a TDC mark at about the 9 o’clock position. Should I be aligning to the TDC mark or sticking with the white paint mark? - Pump Gear Removal (Photo 2)
There are 5 nuts on the pump gear that I assume I need to remove. Will the gear want to rotate while I’m trying to loosen them? Is there a specific sequence I should follow? I understand I’ll need a puller to remove the gear—can anyone recommend a good puller that’s easy to use? Price isn’t my main concern; I’d rather have something that works smoothly. - Pump Mounting Bolts (Photo 3)
I’ve already removed the fuel lines (6 lines) and disconnected all the hoses. I’ve also loosened two nuts, one circled in red in the photo, and the other on the opposite side. Are there any additional bolts or nuts holding the pump in place that I need to remove before pulling it out?
