I just went and pulled the drain plug now. Oddly, it didn't have the magnet in it. The trans has been sitting on my shop floor for 6 months now so anything in the oil would have settled long ago. The oil came out VERY clean. I caught the first of it in a clear plastic cup, there's a little dark line in the picture (the oil that first came out) then the rest just about looks new.
The case doesn't leak any oil and it spins freely and smoothly. Feels like it has a "normal" amount of backlash in the gears. The trans I put in my 80 felt the same and it works great.
The only little issue I can see with the trans is a small "chip" in the very top of the shifter tower. It's on the little lip that retains the shift boot. The boot will still stay on however and the shift pins are nice and tight. It's cosmetic more than anything.

do you have the bellhousing to mate up to 1fz?

Yes, I have the bellhousing. I'm not an expert in this, if the bellhousing for the 1HD-T's is the same as the 1FZ then you're in luck. I'm selling all my transmission components with this trans. This will include:
Bellhousing, clutch fork, RHD shifter, pressure plate, clutch disc (very little wear) 300mm flywheel (1HD-FT), RHD shift boots, brand new H151F lower shift boot and any other small parts I can come up with. I'm trying to clean up my shop, if it's 5 speed trans related, I'll throw it in...

FYI, the flywheel is compatible between a 1HDT and a 1HDFT. You can even bolt the 300mm one to a 1HZ.

1FZ and 1HD to H151F are not the same.
However, someone can easily get one from partsouq if they really want a 5 speed.

Offtopic, but what setup do you have for media blasting your parts. I noticed you did a lot of blasting when cleaning stuff for your build too.

It's a stand-up cabinet, TP Tools SkatBlast 780. Really a great unit, I've been using it for years now

And I forgot to mention that I also have the factory wiring harness for the trans. One small plastic plug is cracked/broken near the end of the harness but it could be replaced

What parts? Bolt it up and go more or less. Anything small you need I'd source from Partsouq.com, that's where I got all my stuff from.

Ahhh, I didn't know you had a gas engine. I don't know about the bellhousing, I have the diesel one for the H151F though. I purchased the complete pedal assembly from Dave at Japan4X4 for about $300, it bolted right in. The other small parts (clutch master, slave, lines, etc) are all available from Partsouq at pretty good prices.
Bell housing is indeed different.
