Has anyone swapped a 1fzfe into a fj25? Silly question I suppose. I'm curious how the motor mounts line up with the 25 frame.

I haven't heard of one, be pretty neat though.

You probably have the side motor mounts (if they're still there) on your 25. If so, they're positioned exactly the same as the 40 but I don't know if the motor will bolt to them. Pretty sure someone has done it in a 40.

Mine had a late 70's 2F and 4 speed sitting in it, so a 3FE should be easy. ;)

Yes, motor, tranny, and t-case from '94 fzj80. The original 25 mounts are gone. I'm mostly concerned the shifters will be in the back of the tub.

I know of a vehicle that this would go into Eric ;) You know you want it...1fzfelv...

Shifters won't be the problem, nothing a little linkage lengthening won't fix. You will be way short on the rear driveshaft though, didn't know you were thinking of the whole thing.

I've got a tiny rear shaft as it is :). I spent a lot of money getting it made up to work between a 205 and a toy pinion. Something else I can sell I suppose. Rear end is centered, so it should work with the 80 case OK.

Dan I'm counting on you to help me out :).

eric-

#1, use a 1975-1978 frame for this project.
#2, use 55 rear springs or reverse rear springs to move axle back (you will need length)

in theory, a 80 series rear FF axle, with the long (left) side cut down to the identical length of short side creates a 40 series width, centered rear ff axle with disk brakes.

goin one further, you could even try to make the rear coils work.

a front coil 8" LC high pinion frame cut from a 1998 or later 70 series donor (australia?) would grant all the parts for front coil suspension as well.

an old 25 with rear ff and 4 disks, and coils front and rear would be quite cool.....

Hey rick. I hope life is good for you. I'm sticking with the axles that I have, but I was thinking about 55 springs for length. The 80 axles are spoken for. I like the mini-LC hybrid rear, since it gives me a decent e-brake and easy axle replacement. FF would be nice.

I don't have any extra frames laying around, nor the room :). Just for grins, how would the 25 body line up on the 40 frame?
