Let me start with vehicle specification.

2005 Land Cruiser GX-R (FZJ100) Middle East version. The car has 1FZ-FE engine paired with A343F transmission (4spd auto, and it's been rebuilt by the way). What I'm planning to do it swap it to 2UZ-FE since the 1FZ is totally not for me (huge fuel consumption, vibration, and I rarly off-road the vehicle)

and here are my questions:

1- Do I have to swap the ECU too?
2- Any problems I should expect?
3- Thank you.

Yes on the ECU and probably a whole host of other electronics. I'd search around the 80 section and the hardcore corner, few builds there where people have swapped a 1FZ to a 2UZ. Not a lot in the 100 section here, most came with the 2UZ as US spec.

Actually, I'm thinking about this.

You are considering doing a $10,000, minimum, swap, because the fuel consumption of your 1FZ is too much. At most, you'll gain like 2-4 mpg.

That means your conversion will probably pay for itself in 250 years or so.

Whether you go offroad or not has zero to do with the type of engine.

Unless you just want to do this conversion, for fun, you'd be better off just selling your rig and buying one you want, instead.

Of course, once you fix the vibration issue, you might decide to keep it. That would be cool as well.

How, precisely, does your 1FZ have a "huge vibration".

The 1FZ is the smoothest engine built by Toyota, and inline sixes are the smoothest engines produced by man.

Your vibration is not caused by the engine design. I imagine it is something else.

I'd love to believe that, but I do believe the vibration is caused by engines design, it's been like that since the day I bought it 10 years ago. I personally don't want to change it's core, but I'm a sucker for lexus-level ride quality and I'm open for suggestions.

I don't want to pile on board with everyone else, especially as I have just acquired a Dubai imported UZJ-100 so I have feels for the UAE 100's :D, but worries about fuel consumption while in the UAE, seriously? Your fuel prices are about 15% less than US, and about 3.7 times (!) less than EU prices (where I am located).

Besides which UZJ-100 are about a dime a dozen there, no?

After giving it some though, I decided to leave the car the way it is. Such huge budget isn't really worth it to fix a minor engine vibration and measly increase in enffciency.

Instead, I decided to focus on sound isolation, leather upholstery and maybe even overhauling the chassis and install LX470 suspensions.

Fuel consumption is a plus, I was trying to find reason to swap. Ride quality is what I was after.

and yes, we do worship this particular model. Most LC owners, however, own the FJZ-100 (1FZ-FE 100 series) as those tend to have better resale value.

I don't know your background, but you couldn't be more wrong, here. I6s are internally balanced. If you are getting engine vibration, you have something wrong, like a dead cylinder. My 20 year old 1FZ-FE idles and revs extremely smoothly.

You can also believe you can jump to the moon, but that doesn't make it so.

I have to side with 120mm on this one. One thing is for certain: it's not "by design". That yours has been running rough for 10 years is wholly possible, but like the arguably most famous I6 in the world (BMW), inline sixes and balanced engines. As are boxer engines, but that's another story.

On a side note, this is why well built I6'es and boxer engines are so reliable long-term: the engine is innately smooth and thus less susceptible to wear.
