Looking to run a 1f to a split 60 tranny in my crawler I'm building . Looking for opinions pros and cons wanting g to keep it all land landcruiser no chevy s*** . Seeing if anyone else is running this setup and how do you like or dislike it .. As of now I have fj60 axels up front with longfields and a Aussie locker and a spooled rear.

Split 60 case and 4 speed tranny what I meant to say

I am currently running an h42 and split case adapted to my 1f. I don't love the setup, it would significantly benefit from 4:1 gearing in the transfer case. I think low range is only 1.9:1 and first gear is only 3.55:1. So my overall ratio is not low enough to have good control on obstacles. It's a lot of clutch slipping and bouncing around.

my other option is a sm420 to 3spd case Been reading on that setup also . I have 40 wirha sbc 350 in it do t really want another one .

Whatever you plan to run with a manual trans. you want your low gear ratio to be at least 60:1. Any higher than that and you will not have enough crawl ratio in serious spots. 100:1 is the number to shoot for.

There is a 4 to 1 low range kit available for the split t-case (from Advance Adapters, I believe.)

Using a H41 four speed instead of the H42 will help with the crawl ratio (4.9 first gear vs. 3.55)

Sm 420 or 465 to one piece case would hold up if you get a t-case saver and a ring for the front output. I have been beating on a one piece case for years. This last one I have in my rig is holding up really well. I used to break them all the time. Having a 7-1 first gear is better than a split case with gears in it for wheeling. What axle gear ratio are you planning? Tire size?
