I came across this ad on www.craigslist.org, and was wondering if this deal is too good to be true. I think a truck like this should sell for double what they are asking... any thoughts? I'm thinking scam... but who knows.
Sounds like the one on ebay (?) that was "in Italy", just send the money and they'll ship it right over : , problem was the email addy was from a different continent, etc., etc.
The guy replied and said that the truck is located in Vancouver, Canada. 59,500 miles on the clock, and supposedly inherited it from his late uncle in SF. I replied asking him for a number so that we can discuss this further.
$14500 is damn cheap for a 100 series with under 60k miles right? He claimes that the truck is in excellent condition with original paint...
Still a bit fishy... let's hope he doesn't ask me to send the money so that he can send the car. LOL. Although I've heard of people buying cars without looking at it on Ebay, I would never buy a vehicle w/out looking at it in person.
I just found a '99 on AutoTrader, $12500, looked nice, only catch is 268K miles!! That's alot of frieking miles, kinda cool it made it that far though...
The guy replied with a name and number, so I called him and left a voice mail. He replied via email and told me that he only uses his phone for emergencies. Ok, that's fine, but it would be nice to be able to talk to the owner at least over the phone to make the arrangements... after all, I don't want to book a flight to Vancouver and find out that this is a hoax. I then checked the area code of the number he provided... turns out it's a number out of Aurora, Illinois, and not Vancouver! Strange...

I ran the vin on that one and it was in IL 6 days before I contacted the seller..I of coarse turned them in to e-bay. I also saw the same picture on traderonline.
The latest scam seems to be "selling" and asking for western union transfers.
definitely a scam - have a buddy who "bought" daytona 500 tix and pair using western union using his credit card. never got the tix (of course!) and his credit card company treats western union as a cash advance, like he went to the atm and got the cash, so no recourse there.
if it sounds too good to be true - it probably is!
