My 1999 Land Cruiser lost its Heater blower motor, no fan on any speed. Also The AC light no longer will light, the rear air is working. I have the climate control unit with thermostat and the only working lights are the ‘Fresh/Recirculate button” and the only light I get on the head unit is for the floor heat. That light is constantly on and no matter where you place the selector switch it always remains on. Rear defrost switches are both working as is the power port.

I tried the self-diagnostics test and can’t get the unit to do anything; it never goes through the test with the flashing lights etc. I’ve looked at the fuses and they look good, the unit has some power to it as the one light remains on. We had jump started the truck due to a low battery when we noticed this condition but not sure if that has anything to do with the problem?

I’ve searched the forum but really didn’t find anything to point me in the correct direction, any help in trouble shooting this would be appreciated :)

Thanks,

Matt

The thread below is not your identical problem, but lots of good info on what parts of the system to check and where they are ,etc.... also lots of good links within the thread.

Heater / ventilation fan / blower question

Thanks for the link, I'm thinking that the head unit not being able to do self-diagnostics test is a bad sign. There is power to the unit as one of the lights is on, it will not move with the selector switch just sits there with it's green reflection mocking me :) How long do you need to hold down the switch buttons when turning on the key to initiate the self-diagnostics test? Perhaps I'm just not doing it correctly.

Anyone have there head units / Climate control unit fail or need to be rebuilt? is there a service who rebuilds, tests or repairs these?

Just a quick follow up, it was a bad AC Amplifier. I had purchased a used temperature control complete with bezel etc. However the one that arrived was in poor shape. I took the circuit board and swapped them. Problem solved, back up and running with Heat and AC :)
