I purchased this 100 Series in 2015 from a LC enthusiast who had recently completed a mild build and full maintenance overhaul. Since then it has been on adventure/part time commuter duty for my family. This LC has been dead reliable, as expected. I am selling because we have been towing a hardside camper for a few years, and we decided to buy a truck (2022 RAM Power Wagon) that is better suited to our towing needs. The build on the Power Wagon will begin soon. The sadness of a future without a Landcruiser has already begun.
This LC has been maintained professionally by Fort Collins 4x4 and L1 Automotive since I purchased it. L1 specializes in Toyota and has been the sole caretaker for the last handful of years. Generally speaking, I have said YES to any recommended maintenance on the LC since purchase.
I would describe the LC as mechanically sound, and cosmetically a 10 footer. Upon close inspection you will see some pinstriping from tight trails and a handful of small dings from 25 years of service. This truck is not a trail beater, nor is it a pristine garage queen. I believe it’s the perfect truck for ‘overland’ travel … not so perfect you are afraid to drive it, but very clean and reliable. The 4.88 gears are AMAZING. They really brought this powertrain to life. That’s a mod I wish I had done years ago.
The interior is in shockingly good condition for its age/mileage. Toyota knew how to build ‘em back then. No cracks in the dash, and original leather has no tears.
Flaws/quirks
When it’s cold outside, the power windows are slow (typical)
Auto-up function on driver window does not work (it rolls up fine, you just have to hold the button)
BIO rear bumper has some rust/corrosion
Clear coat failure on hood, pitting on front fascia (below headlights)
