Hello.
I’ve read a lot about the clunk from D to R and R to D. I greased my driveshaft and I still have it. I’ve been told my front diff bushings are shot, however first thing in the morning it won’t do it for the first time I play with it.
So what else can I check.
I just got this truck it has 189000 miles and I’m not sure fluids ever changed in the Tranny/diffs boxes.

Thanks in advance.

CV to flange play & front diff bushings are the main things that cause this if the driveshafts are fine. Both are pretty easy to check and go from there. Replacing them on the other hand.. :D Mine also didn't do it everytime, only 90%, depends on how it was parked, how fast you shift from P to R or D, etc..

I’ve seen them have the clunk at as little as 60k. It’s nothing but a minor annoyance if it’s made it to damn near 200k like that. I just consider it a characteristic of these trucks.

I get few annoying unnecessary comments twice a month. Other than that it’s actually looks good on the truck, you know? My car my money my taste NOT yours. :) have a good day.

The red matches the taillights...
