1998 LandCruiser Rear Diff Locker, Updates, 3rd Row SLC UTAH, $11,900

1998 Landcruiser. First year of the 100 Series. 2UZ V8 engine. 163K miles.

I have owned this LC for almost 4 years and 50,000 miles, all trouble-free. This rides as smoothly as ever. Transmission shifts easily, engine has plenty of power. My family uses this as our highway vehicle when we go to Vegas (5 times/yr) and Powell.

Here's a short-list of some of the updates done to this LC:

Remote Start

iPod/DVD/MP3,etc DoubleDIN Stereo w BlueTooth hands-free phone built-in.

New Paint, smoke gray

New emblems (see the chrome plate on the back).

My favorite features are: power/transmission, heated seats, power windows, roof, 3rd row (removable), automatic lights, and the excellent ride of the vehicle. It still drives better than my mother-in-law's 3yr old Denali. Go figure.

When was the timing/ waterpump changed and can you post picks of the sliders?

Timing was changed just prior to (my) purchase; so, that was summer of 04, approx 110K miles. To my knowledge, the water pump was replaced at the same time.

The only work I've done to the car (mechanically) since then was I replaced the starter in February 2006. I got a new windshield last year.

I had a pre-purchase inspection done at the time of my purchase, along with the records that I've accumulated since then and I can scan and e-mail them to you if you're interested.

I have pictures of the sliders, but I'll need to e-mail them to you. I'll PM you for your address.

Can you elaborate on why you aren't happy with the paint job? Looks pretty good in the pics.

Any pics of the front end/grill/hood? Does the front emblem match the back ones?

And - where'd you mount the mic for the bluetooth stereo and/or is it permanently mounted?

Paint: I'm not thrilled because the body/paint shop fixed most of what I asked, but they created some NEW body work that they didn't fix prior to shooting it. If you look closely at the back of the car, the prep guy pried the rear wiper off and created dents around it. Also, they repaired a small dent in the right rear fender and didn't sand it completely. These items along with a few other will be fixed by the shop in a day or two when I can get back there. A couple other problems: there are some areas that show some tiny bumps from the paint. They say that these will go away when the paint has completely hardened and the paint is buffed. There are a couple of areas where the paint peeled just a bit when the masking was removed. You probably wouldn't notice it if it wasn't pointed out. Lastly, the shop didn't paint the door jams. This wasn't huge because I didn't pay them to. I was going to paint them the same color as the a-pillars (satin black). The shop DID paint the bumpers without being asked--go figure. They told me they'd change them back to black if I wanted them to. For now, the bumpers are matched to the body.

The paint color (I think) IS very nice and gives the car a nice up-dated feel. I painted the emblems and bought a new chrome plate (from the 02+ LCs) as shown in the pictures.

Emblems / Front Pics: I have updated the site to show the front of the car and the other emblems. If there is any other part of the car that's not shown here, let me know and I'll take more photos. Other photos that have been added include: rear diff locker switch, rear heat, and the hardware that's included in with the sliders.

One more thing to mention here: when looking at the new pictures, you will see a crack in the passenger side headlamp. I ordered a new one and it will be here any day. That headlamp will be fixed any day and certainly prior to delivery.

BLUETOOTH: The bluetooth mic is IN the new headunit--there is no separate mic that has been installed in any other area of the car--it's all turn-key and clean. It works well, too. One other picture I added shows the center console and where I keep my iPod. Certainly you can keep it IN the console if you wamt, but where it is now is easy to get to and remains pretty hidden, esp with the cup holder tray open.

LASTLY: SHIPPING/DELIVERY:

I know this site is national if not global and not everyone can just break away, fly out and drive it home. My work is flexible enough that I can deliver this up to about 500-700 miles. I can go as far east as Denver, as far South as Las Vegas, as far West as San Fran and as far North as Idaho. I would need payment via wire transfer prior to delivery. I will overnight the title once payment is made. I am not out to skin anyone or screw anyone and I can give you references, phone numbers, my home address, etc etc to help aid in raising your comfort level. We can arrange the gas and plane ticket depending on what price is offered for the truck.

Here's the link to the pictures one more time:

You guys think I'm asking too much, or is no one in the market for a clean 100? It's hard to tell on value--NADA and KBB don't match up well and locally there really aren't any for sale (98-99) to use as comps.

I no longer need this vehicle . . .I still drive it daily, but I don't need two SUVs and make due with one car for now. So, make an offer if you're interested.
