Does anyone know of any original or swapped diesel and standard transmission 4x4's SUVs (not pickups) with a diesel engine and manual transmission that are year 1996 or newer available for sale anywhere in the United States? Either Land Cruiser Series 80 or any Lexus model, or anything EXCEPT Jeep products (no Liberties, Wranglers, etc.)?

There must be something available at some price range.

SUV with diesel and manual will be virtually non-existent in the USA. Not original options, only home-swapped.

Must look at Australia for those. (and maybe others)

That's really a horrible pity. I mean not horrible like dying of a virus. But just sad to be denied of such options. Do you know of any home-swapped examples available in the U.S. currently?

I don't. Look above in the "classifieds" section.

How about the same except NOT diesel, available in the U.S.? So again that would be SUV-only (no pickups), non-Jeep, 4x4 (not AWD), standard transmission, 1996 or newer, in the United States.

No standard transmissions, just automatic.

We got one version.

1FZ-FE with A343 transmission.

There is an LX450 with a 12 valve and NV4500 w/stock t-case for sale in Poncha Springs, CO. Custom Cruisers I think. I believe it was in the $63k range.

3rd generation 4runners were available in US with a manual tranny until 2000. Excellent trucks. One of the very best 4x4's for the money. Toyota FJ Cruisers and Nissan Xterra were also available with a stick.

The only diesel 4x4 suv's available after 96 (why after 96?) in the US were the suburban, excursion, liberty and grand cherokee. I think the liberty was the only one with a manual.

You could probably find a special order Ford or GM product.

Through a stroke of good fortune I found a 97 in the Middle East...it's going to have to stay there for two more years until I can import it, but it is the only manual diesel 80 I've seen in 10 years in the Middle East. Diesel just was not popular. (I suspect I will be in this truck until it is time to 'Thelma and Louise'.)

(Note the 'icebox' between the front seats.)
It's got the rear aircon and troop seats in the back:

But the engine sounds good as you can here in this video clip.

And it has the barn doors and swing away spare, which I prefer.

This truck needs quite a lot of work, but I don't care. Here's a terrible video of the interior. And here's the partial initial list of work being done:

Bushings all around
steering box leak
RR axel seal leak
transfer box leak
new CV joint
new windshield
power steering hose
bunch of interior stuff

Chassis is rust free near as I can tell from photos. I've never actually seen it in person but a buddy of mine in Abu Dhabi has and he didn't notice anything I hadn't. I've never actually seen the truck in person. I was visiting my sons in Virginia when the pandemic hit and I've been here ever since. This truck became available and I jumped on it. I don't have much to say yet because I have not driven it, but I'm actually pretty thrilled to have found it. As I said, it is the only one I've run into in 10 years in the Middle East.
