Hi everyone.
So I bought a 1996 HZJ75, with a 1FZF engine and 5 speed MT. It was originally imported for a mining company, so I believe a lot of maintenance stuff, was done the cheap way.
My doubt regarding the rear brakes is the following. It has disc brakes, but doesn't look OEM. There is no disc backplate. Also, the original wheel nuts, don't fit on the rear wheel studs, so I believe something was changed.
I attach some pics so you can give a hint wether it is an OEM setup or not.
Also do you guys think its worth it to go back to OEM rear brakes?
Does anyone no if those trucks came stock with disc or drum?
Cheers and thanks in advance.

I have a 1995 Hzj75 in Australia. My axle hubs look quite different. Mine is fitted with disc brakes and a drum handbrake combined in the one rotor. I believe it is standard. The handbrake is notoriously ineffective in this setup. if your setup works fine, I'd leave it.

Hello,

Most markets got rear drum brakes. So did South America.

Your setup looks aftermarket. The backing plate and other bits are missing.

It is possible that the disc brake conversion including changing either the studs or the nuts.

I would leave this setup as it is if it is working properly. However, I would be careful when wheeling this truck.

Thanks for the replies @JuanJ and @Jestafool4hzj75
It definitely is an aftermarket setup. Will try and get a quote to go back to stock. Thats a way of overhauling it. The truck has 460.000 Km.s and had its beginnings as a mining truck, so I believe a lot of love needs to be given to her!
Here some more pictures that proves it is an aftermarket setup.
How can I tell if it is a Full float axle or semi float?
Cheers and thanks
