New water pump, hoses and belt ($150)
All 7 cylinders rebuilt this week ($750)
All 8 hoses on the backhoe replaced this week ($950)

Prior service includes installing a kit to deactivate the auto returm on the rear bucket giving it more power and removing the quircky electronic selonoid that hangs up on these models ($750).

Hi, i will be in the market for a skid steer next year, and would like to know if its normal that so much repair was done with only 500 hours. I thought Kubota was the sh***

The unit is 16 years old and has been stored outside. It only got used once every 2 years so the repairs that I did recently were because the cylinders sat empty and were not worked for so long. Tires are typical for that kind of use, and the waterpump is typical for 500 hours. I had one hose burst in the backhoe spine and while it was apart decided to replace all the hoses. Same with the cylinders, had 2 go out one weekend and rebuilt all of them just in case.

The rear-end repair was because my brother drove it in 4wd on a hard surface.

500 hours is not light for a 16 year old machine, and Kubotas are the s***. A John Deere of this size would either be in a scrap yard, or worth about $2500. You can't find a small backhoe that also has the power of the big boys from anyone but Kubota, and the engine should run for 3000 hours.

Don't buy any piece of comercial equipment unless you plan to cosnstantly be replacing hoses and rebuilding cylinders. Why do you think earthwork companies have a truck with tools following the equipment around?

Bump for a BARGAIN.

Why cant these deals be on the left coast...

It's still for sale. Really haven't advertised it other than here and calling the local Kubota dealership. It's a good price. I hate to get rid of it, but really can't see me needing it for a few years. And we have another kid on the way.

Thanks,
Jeremy
