Blue 1995 Toyota FJZ80 with Factory Front and Rear locking diffs 152k miles.
I am moving and cannot take with me. Before I put this on CL I wanted to offer up this to you folks:
The good:
Diff Locks work
Coolant Leak Test Passed - No HG issue
No dings or dents
body and frame solid - just some surface rust - I life in Florida by the beach
No Offroad - This was basically a mall cruiser when I bought it and the only dirt road I took it on was about an 8th of mile long going to our camp.
I had the front wheel bearing replaced and repacked at about 102k.
All stock except the shocks and headlights.
Shifts fine with no weird noises (This was driven on flat Florida roads for 98% of its miles and I drove it maybe as fast as 80 MPH and was responcible with it)
About 120K I had all the radiator, dif and transmission fluids changed out by the dealer (I put wax on the bottom of the difs - and when they 'forgot' about that, I made them change everything againe, in front of me... ) . No I did not have the revese flush done on the transmission (that seems to kill the transmission?).
The Not so good but relitively easy to fix:
· It's ugly the blue paint respray cheap paint job ($400) is fading badly and pitted (I left it outside during Irma - no flood - just fast moving plant and sand debris).
· Fronts Seats (usual - Cracking and the plastic gear to go forward and back needs to be replaced)
· AC does not work - Bought compressor, never installed
· Dash pad is cracked - sun,
· Warning Lights are on indicating:
· Window switch control on drivers door intermittent or not working (left window down)
· CD player not working - sometimes
· Tires are non aggressive street Michelins with maybe a 500 miles. While they are quiet and provide better millage, they are not good in the rain -
· Bumper from 94 and after market headlights (I did not do a good wiring job). This bumper is further inset or I just did not install it right.
· Oil leaks. The Service manager at the garage where I had the wheels repacked said I had a valve cover leak. I asked how much it would cost and they told me $500 plus parts, so instead, I thought I would save myself $500 and I bought the gasket and spark plug tubes for the oil cover but never installed it. So at this point, I do not know if it is the rear main seal, as well.
History:
I bought this in 2000 with 78k and it was my Daily driver until 2006ish when we had the high gas prices (By this time it was around 140 k and I wanted to fix it into a off road rig anyway - Gas went way up and so I bought an old Audi with 50k miles...never do that again); most of my driving was either a long distance with 3 or 4 hours or to the airport 35 minutes away; I am an IT consultant that either work at home or travels to client location.
My accident:
Anyway, occasionally I would drive it down to the Marina or to HD. One day, I drove it down 1st Avenue north in St Pete and the traffic lights seemed to be synchronized that Saturday in Downtown at about 22 MPH, so I decided to play with my radio, and when I when I looked up, I realized that I was running a red light (playing with radio) and there was a car coming right at me (drivers side) so I slammed on the brakes and the car (BMW) swerved and hit the corner of the LC driver side front bumper. It screwed up the front bumper and the head lights and the AC tank on the 80 (and scraped up the side of the BEEMER). Since I was embarrassed and had a 500 dollar deductible, I never turned in the claim and fixed the lights and bumper about a year and half later and had it repainted and I put in a new fuel pump, as well.
After that I have used it occasionally to pick up things at HD, when I did not need AC, but I was starting to get the dash lights and I just stopped driving it... with the intention of fixing it up myself or sending it to Slee and making it the rig I always wanted. But, I had other projects, health issues etc... now I am moving.
I think it would make a great rig to do resstoration on. I have some parts for it and manuals.
Possible Questions Answered: Why did I test the coolant leak:
When I finally put the new lights and bumper on, I took it for a drive and noticed the temp guage going up higher than 1/2. I put almost a full bottle of coolant and water mix and after that I had no problems. As a lurker on this list, I was still concerned, so I bought the coolant leak test, and I did the test three times it passed. I did not send it in to have oil or coolant analyzed nor did I put any crap in the radiator.
email me on the list with your contact info and I will respond - give me a few days - I am moving I will send you pics.
Asking $2500.

· Brakes need to be done and probably the regulator should be looked at and the system bled . I would not drive it until this is fixed.
