howdy.

FJ70 restoration is going on, but will be looking at what I think is an LJ78 later this afternoon. I was able to see it last night, in the dark and took some undercarriage photos.

anything to be on the lookout for? this is marketed as 1994 70 series. still owning a SWB FJ70. was thrown back a bit at the coils and found out the pre-prado 70 series exist.

Thanks for any info.

It is a Prado in some markets. Do you know exactly which diesel it is? Looks clean enough.

Listed as petrol diesel would be rare in thisnpart of world still havent been able to look under hood later this afternoon thinking its probably a 3rz fe will grab vin plate photo once owner reaponds asked him once and he sent address some things are lost in translation haha

Its most likely an RJ77 with a 22R if its petrol. Thats the LHD model that was exported to Gulf countries in 94. Europe got a 22RE in that year.

Thanks will grab vin plate and verify later dam carb again no issue with 22r, cant wait to see how it starts

Will update later but the gcc spec above is probably it

The 3RZ FE wasnt used in most markets until 95 with the exception of the T100 in 94 in the US. Only the 90 series Prado got it from what I can see.

Got it. Was pure speculation on my part with 3tz guess. 22 r makes more sense

Assuming trans is r15x of some sort. Hope to know more later this afternoon

Thanks again.

Like @roscoFJ73 said it’s probably a 22R, and my guess would be that it would have a G52 transmission behind it. If it is a diesel it would most likely be a 1KZ-T with an R15x. Looks sharp regardless!

If you end up buying it, bring it to the Meet & Greet. I assure you you'll be the the only guy there in a "RJ".
:)

Just went to look at another what is sort of an RJ 77. This one has h151 mated to carbed 1fz. Soo it does fit. See anything different. This is a 94 model.

Wide nose front conversion eh? Make sure the radiator support mounts are bungled up. The wide nose's support mounts are 50mm wider than the narrow nose.

Edit: Actually I'm not sure if that's true on the Prado front. For the 75 Series HD front (round headlights) it's 50mm narrower. Prado, not sure.

That RJ77 with the newer HD 70 front end is pretty cool. I've thought about doing that with my LJ78 a few times (and fitting a 1HDFTE). Nice to see how well it actually looks. I'd spend some time looking at the cross member at the front of the frame, as well as the front most body mounts. They would have had to modify those, and it will give an indication as to the quality of the work they did. If it's good quality, I'd take a 1FZ H151 over a 22R G52 any day.

Biggest concern would be vin tag and motor not matching trying to import even though that engine is old enough to be exempt, will have to research more and the h151 would need rebuild 2nd gear was crazy

And the only thing stopping me from pulling trigger is this. Sitting close to white one on lot covered in dirt. Lot owner wasn't there for it.

still trying to get a price lol.

1fz one is off the table now. reading on EPA regs. vehicles with non-original engines are no-go. might be able to get buy on that one with it being older 1fz, but second statement is vehicle must be original unmodified configuration even when 21yrs old. didn't even get into the DoT standards at 25yrs

but biggest takeaway is that I seen something bigger than 22r will fit if needed in future. like a 1HZ or r2.8

trigger has been pulled. should be driving it daily (white one above) by the end of this coming week. using ad photos because the kid selling it (teenager) takes better photos than me. hah
