I've tried searching but struggling to find threads with a similar issue.
1994 FZJ80 296,000mi
Not sure if it is relevant, but some background. I've had the truck for 8 years and the exhaust has always been in rough shape, O2 sensors barely in the bungs. Check engine light does not light up in the dash before I start the truck. No check engine light while running.

For the past 6 months I have noticed the truck has a lot of issues when re-starting warm or hot. When cold it starts no issue. When warm or hot it has a very rough idle, surges, sometimes will cut out. However, after 3 to 5 min of letting it do its thing it clears up and drives like normal. This is not my daily so I have just been driving it less because of the issue.

I do miss driving the truck and replaced the full exhaust systems. Warm or hot start issue is still present.

If your check engine isn’t lighting up when you first turn the key, your bulb is burnt out. Pull the cluster and replace the bulb, then see if you have a code. If you’ve got a code, that will give you a good idea of where to start. You may also consider checking fuel pressure and checking your egr.
