Major Edit - Price Drop - 1994 80 Series Land Cruiser, Factory Lockers, Kansas City

Hello,
I wanted to make a major edit to my ad based on a mud regular (and someone much smarter than me about vehicles who looked at my FZJ yesterday). Long story short, the Cruiser has had some drivetrain noise as long as I've owned it. It is not a major noise (see my post about a year ago) and has honestly not changed in the last year in terms of amout of noise. Anyway, this mud regular felt for sure the noise was originating from the front or rear diff or possibly the tranny. The noise occurs under acceleration only (not when you're off the gas) and is pretty much at all speeds. It is definitely apparent but by no means deafening. I was not trying to hide this from anyone in the ad, I planned to discuss and let them drive/hear for themselves when they looked at it. Anyway, in light of this information I am amending my price to $3900. This is a bottom dollar price as I will keep and drive it if I don't get $3900. It is still a locked cruiser in good shape with no body rust. If you are interested and want to come drive please let me know. All other details are below. Thanks.

Hello all,

I wanted to put some feelers out there on selling my 1994 Landcruiser. I have owned it for a little more than a year and it has been a great vehicle for me, but as an extra vehicle I have the itch to move on (even though I am sure it will be a mistake with this one!). It has 209,000 miles and runs great. It is the forest green color on the outside and brown cloth on the inside. It has the factory lockers and sunroof. The exterior is in good shape with no rust anywhere on the body. There are a few very small dings and scratches but not much, it looks good. The interior is in great shape. The cloth looks pretty much like new. It has the 3rd row seats, and I have added Husky liners in the driver and passenger areas as well as the cargo area (not back seat). The truck runs and drives very well. The Air Conditioning compressor was replaced by the previous owner approx. 2 years ago, and I replaced the expansion valve this past summer and had the system vac'ed and charged because I wasn't happy with how cold it was. It is plenty cold now. I have replaced the plugs and wires, and have put Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W-30 High Mileage in the engine, as well as Amsoil 75W-90 Synthetic "Severe Gear" in the front and rear diffs and transfer case, and just put Amsoil Synthetic Transmission fluid to put in the tranny this past weekend so most of the fluids are baselined for you. As stated there is no rust on the body and the underside is pretty clean for living most it's life in the midwest (to the best of my knowledge). I have an auto lift at my work and can get it up this weekend and take some pics to post of the frame for you. As for what doesn't work: the radio LED display works intermittently, and the CD player doesn't work; the drivers side door handle is broke on the outside but still works fine; the passengers side back window is disconnected because it kept falling down when I rolled it down; and the truck does leak some oil. The oil leak is not enought to need to add oil, but does leave a small spot on the driveway. On the underside it seems wet both front and back of the engine, so I am not sure where the leak comes from. I did tighten the valve cover last year and it stopped leaving spots on my new concrete driveway for awhile, but later came back so I suspect the valve cover is at least part of the problem. Other than that, the tires are Michelin LTX's that have approx. 15,000 miles on them and are probably still 70% tread. I just tried the diff locks and they all (center, rear, front) locked right in (light went from flashing to solid and heard them "click" in)...I have never previously used the diff locks. I am looking to get $4800 (Now $3900) out of it. Please let me know if you have any questions as I will try my best to answer them.

Couldn't figure out how to post more than 3 pics at a time, so here are some more....

Dang it!

It never fails! I just bought one in KC 2 days ago in much rougher shape than this one. I have less miles but more rust and small issues of stuff not working. Only if i had waited 2 days. Good luck!

EMail...

I have emailed you - c'mon back.

Soonerfan,

I guess I should have posted 2 days earlier. Good luck with yours!

Here are some more pics of the back of the truck and the broken door handle that I mentioned in the original post. Again, it still opens fine.

More pics of the underside. I know the pics show rust, but it all seems to be just surface stuff. The frame really looks pretty good to me. As for the pics where the front axle shaft go into the wheel (birfs?), hopefully you will know more than me when you see these pics. I have no idea when they were serviced last or what the photos are even showing. I can tell you that the all-wheel drive works fine and that there are no weird noises (clicking, popping, or anything else) coming from up there.

I changed transmission fluid this morning with Amsoil Synthetic ATF. Now both diffs, transfer case, transmission, and engine oil have all been changed out to premium synthetic fluids. Thanks,

Steve

This is the first locked stateside 80 w/cloth seats I've seen. Nice. :)

Lockers work!

In reply, this is still for sale. I have someone interested here in KC but no deal yet. I spent some time on mud last night reading forums (I am not nearly as mechanically competent as most of you) on the lockers and gave them a try this morning on some mud outside my work parking lot. They work!!! Not sure when they were used last but the center diff lock went right in, and the rear and front "clicked" in after slowly driving forward and backward a few feet. All 3 lights on the dash went from blinking to solid. Thanks,

Steve

Thanks. I've informed my dad about this, and he'll likely be in touch.

Thanks. I am meeting a mud regular tomorrow to show it, but as of now it is still available.
